Sorin supposes he shouldn’t be surprised by who has found him- he’s spent a significant amount of time both around David and in his office and he knows his scent much better than he does any of the other humans. Lately, it’s been almost like the hunter’s been stalking him, but Sorin’s paid it little attention. He hasn’t approached him or made contact until now. Sorin had told him to leave, but of course the stubborn human didn’t listen. He doesn’t bother repeating himself. Really, he doesn’t get much of a chance to, because before he has another opportunity to speak David’s talking. Though his words aren’t particularly nasty, his tone is frigid and Sorin is feeling especially sensitive, so the vampires face crumples, a fresh new wave of tears starting up.
“Nooo,” Sorin defended, tone woeful. It was a simple word, an easy one but even so his voice cracks halfway through, and all that does is cause even more miserable tears. David’s never going to let him live this down. He’ll probably make fun of him for it forever. Why was he so mean to him? He sniffled, curling up as tightly as he could manage, willing himself to disappear.
Then, David’s kneeling next to him, and that’s surprising enough but it’s… almost as if he’s patting Sorin on the back. That has him pausing, and since his next words hadn’t sounded so harsh, Sorin wavers for a handful of seconds before slumping directly into the human, seeking out the comforting contact of a familiar person. “David,” he said, “You’re my most favorite human and you’re tall, and- and I can’t remember how to walk anymore.” It’s only technically an exaggeration. He’s pretty sure if he tried to trek back to the GRF by himself right now, he’d give up and fail and curl back up on the ground to await the sun. However, going back to the chapel seems like the only remotely desirable plan. He’s just got to manage to get there. “Can you…” He started, pausing to send the hunter his very best puppy eyes, “Can I have a piggyback ride?”
David’s brows rose at the sobbing vampire at his feet, bawling harder after his authoritative words. Rolling his eyes and sighing the heaviest breath of air he had ever exhaled, he came to kneel by his crumpled form. To suddenly feel the weight of Sorin’s head pressed against his shoulder knocked him to the side slightly, out of surprise. He tutted quietly but stayed still allowing him to rest his head on him not out of any affection but rather because if he fell to the floor David would have to expend more energy pulling him up and furthermore, if he decided to expel the contents of his stomach he could at least prevent him from choking.
He stared at the glassy eyes of the leech, peering up at him with mocking adoration. It took a substantial amount of effort to not laugh. “Cute.” he offered a short cynical smile with a nod but it was soon erased from his face. A piggyback ride?
A P I G G Y B A C K RIDE?
Sometimes, David severely questioned the choices he made in his life. He went to press a palm to the young vampires face and made an attempt to push him away with a disgusted huff. Instead he swung an arm around the back of him to reach across his shoulder and pull him up to his feet. The hunter being quite open to contact from someone else already enough of a deal. “On your feet, let’s get you back.”
