People will spout “if it helps you, use it!” until you need something other than a cane, then, it’s, “oh well you don’t REALLY need that, do you?” Then, it’s, “you’re gonna get looks, you know!” Then, it’s “why would you ‘want’ this?” THEN, it’s “stop wishing you were more disabled.”

People who wish for wheelchairs are (the VAST majority of the time, from my experience) NOT “wishing they were so disabled that they need a wheelchair.”

They ARE, however, more often than not (again, in MY experience) in so much pain that they want to stop and they know how to lessen the pain of walking.

I blocked someone over this shit. Kinda thought that a disability advocate would know that wanting (usually actually NEEDING, but I continue) a wheelchair DOES NOT MEAN that person “wants to be more disabled.” It means they want to lessen the pain of the disability they ALREADY HAVE.
