So, the thing is -- 

The Thing Is: 

Landen knows he’s not the best person in the entire world, but he’s not the worst. Like, that award would probably go to his third grade teacher who told Landen he’d never amount to anything. Sure she was right, but what a dick move. And he’s never even eaten anyone, unlike ... certain people (monsters) Landen knows. Surely, in like, the scheme of things -- in the Big Man’s Plan, even -- this should merit some consideration?

                        this conversation feels familiar. they can hardly imagine why.

For a moment, he feels almost like throwing a tantrum.  “No. You’re not eating, you’re being weird.”        He sighs, scrubs an exasperated hand down his face.  .                  “At least wipe your face off. You have blood everywhere.”

It’s a stare full of incredulity and embarrassment -- and he blinks, not once, but twice, hoping fervently that the sight in front of him is nothing but a fever dream. He chances a glance at their surroundings before leaning forward to hiss:                                                                                   “What the -- what the hell are you doing?”
