Radon Affected areas across England and Wales.

Growing up, I was aware that Cornwall had ‘high Radon levels’, but it was often dismissed by family and others as it being not significant or important.

This map is incredible - I was not aware that the South West contained *quite* so much Radon in comparison to the rest of England and Wales.

Learning what an ‘Isoman’ triathlon is.

The idea of an Ironman triathlon scares the bejebus out of me. As someone who only really learned to cycle properly over the last year (wasn’t quite at the ‘I need stabilisers’ starting point, but I had probably spent about 20 hrs max over my life time on a bike) - the idea of a race in which I bike 112 miles just seems horrendous. Also as someone who, until a few years ago, sporadically used a walking stick for joint problems - the idea of running a marathon *afterwards* seems almost unthinkable.

But equally, I have committed to doing just one of these at some stage in my life as part of an ever increasingly intense set of dares with my partner.

An isoman triathlon - which I learned about today will be my chance to get my own back on my cycling loving partner. I regularly swim a mile or more in a pool session, and I’ve been teaching him how to swim over the last year - and I think it’s fair to say that for him the lack of confidence in swimming 7 miles possibly exceeds the lack of confidence I have in cycling 112 miles (and then doing a marathon). So, I’m guessing it’s only fair to try the Isoman after we (eventually, in a few years) do an Ironman. Right? More information (and original image) can be found here: https://www.isomantri.com/

I’ve been seening this a lot today on the centenary of the 1918 suffrage act, giving votes to some women in the UK.

I hate this quote so much. This woman refuses to give anyone a baby in return for some sperm (a hundred thousand quid on the other hand, and we might be talking), and you might get a meal if you hand me a groceries, but I'm going to expect you to ask nicely and do the washing up in return...

Someone has mapped all the mines in Cornwall - taking 25 years to do it. I applaud both the obsession and vision - and would *love* to see this matched up with above ground map data. Unsure if the underlying data set is open - I may have to go and ask him..
