We welcome fanfiction, fanart, moodboards, playlists, cosplay, memes. Anything creative about Deacury!
Where:
Fanfiction can be posted either to Ao3 to our collection Deacury Week 2021 and/or to tumblr. @ the blog and we will reblog it!
Fanart, moodboards and playlists can be posted to tumblr. @ the blog and we will reblog it!
Who:
Freddie and John. Their relationship with either a platonic or a romantic theme.

One of the organizers is under 18 and will not be interacting with any Explicit rated fic or NSFW/18+ art. Nor will she answer any 18+ related asks.

Rules:
When posting to Ao3, enable comment moderation and/or allow only registered users to comment.
If you receive a hateful message on tumblr or a hateful comment on Ao3, delete it and do not engage. If you see a negative comment on someone else’s work, we encourage you to leave a positive comment, but we advise you not to reply to the negative one. Remember, you can talk to the organisers about hate or criticism.
Tag your work appropriately - this includes all triggers and smut. Utilize the tagging system on Ao3 and the ratings/warnings system. If you’re posting on tumblr, include the appropriate warnings at the top of the fic followed by a ‘keep reading’ cut

If a work is not tagged appropriately, you can reach out to us. However if anything makes you uncomfortable, simply close the work. Do not engage by leaving comments or messaging the author.
Support other people’s creations – make an effort to leave comments/kudos/likes/reblogs.
Minors please refrain from interacting with 18+ fics and art, i.e. discussing it with the creator or announcing your presence on the work.
No hate during the event – this means
No badmouthing John and Freddie’s real life partners or family. This includes wife/boyfriends/husband.
No hate towards ships and other people’s work.
No hate for anyone's writing style or use of tropes.

As a creator, your works can include:

Posts under anon – on Ao3 you can head over to the ‘Post to collection’ option while posting some new work and type in ‘anonymous’. On tumblr- you can send your fic in via asks on the blog @deacuryweek2021
Gender-bending, Fem!Deacury, Gender-neutral pronouns, Trans!Characters – these are all welcomed, encouraged and celebrated – whatever the style and content of your work, we encourage you to tag/label it accordingly!
As a creator, keep in mind:
Freddie’s ethnicity – there’s a post on tumblr that is really helpful! It can be found here
Freddie’s sexuality – this goes without saying.
John and his family’s privacy. Do not use photos of him taken post-1997 (i.e., post-retirement pictures) for your mood boards.
John and Freddie’s friendship towards the end of Freddie's life – the Deacury Week event is not a platform for making judgments about this topic. Comments about what did or didn't "really happen" during this time will be viewed as disrespectful to both of them.
The people in the fandom have other commitments – work/school/family things. Not receiving kudos/comments instantly is not something being done on purpose. People will get to it if it’s their ship.
The ship might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and it is unfair to expect people who do not ship it to interact with the content.
As a reader, you should...
...not spread negativity.
...not instigate fights in the comments.
...not participate in any arguments, old or new.
...read the tags before starting a fic so you know what you’re getting into. “Don’t Like, Don’t Read” policy applies here! If something is not your cup of tea - click away!
...not interact with NSFW or 18+ work if you are a minor.
...not give the author ANY sort of criticism – constructive or otherwise – unless they have specially asked for constructive criticism on this work. Even then, consider finding out what they are looking for feedback on specifically.
...be kind when interacting with everyone’s writing, particularly bearing in mind that English may not be the creator’s first language.
There is no greater proof of the friendship that existed between these two than the fact that Roger was reading when Freddie started taking pictures and instead of howling with despair at being interrupted when reading Roger put the book down

“You’re always here when the weather is dreadful like this.”
“How do you know?” John can’t help but ask. He doesn’t say, the weather is not dreadful. It rains.
There’s a smile in the man’s voice when he speaks. “Sometimes I come down here to see the ghosts play.”

He wrinkles his nose. “I’m not going on a date with a criminal.”
“I’m not a criminal until I get caught, am I?”
“I don’t think that’s how this works,” Freddie says.
perhaps it’s the colour of the sun cut flat - Freddie’s in a mood and John just wants coffee and a nap
It’s sunny out and Freddie has put lilies in the living room and forgone his morning cup, which undoubtedly means John will find him in the garden with a sad face and a cigarette. He inspects the flowers as the water boils. They have not yet come out, and John traces each unassuming body with his fingers. In a few days they will open their faces towards the sun and Freddie will despair of pollen leaving marks on his tablecloth.

Hello, I was very much hoping to contribute today, but I'm simply too tired. Would it be ok to write something for both day 3 and 4 tomorrow?
Hello :) That is absolutely okay to do – and we very definitely encourage you to take a break today!
(I for one can say my day 2 inspired fic will definitely not be up before day 4 —Lou)
The collection will stay open for a bit after the event too so please don't feel you must push yourself to complete everything before the end of the event – it's a busy time of year for many.

Perhaps you’ve never written fanfiction, maybe you have an idea for a scene you want to try out, or maybe you simply don’t feel like writing something particularly long; whatever your reason, drabbles are a great way to get involved…
What is a drabble?
In the traditional sense, a drabble is a piece of fiction that is exactly 100 words.
In case you’re finding it difficult to stick to 100 words, you can most certainly expand your word count, make it 200, 300 even a little ficlet! We’d be delighted to have your contribution!

Can I send smut?
If the anonymous content you are sending in is ‘smut’ or ‘NSFW’, we’d appreciate it if you first dm’ed the blog. We won’t disclose the names of the author of the drabble elsewhere; this is just so we can verify your age.
Prompts
If you used any of the prompts, do state which one(s) at the start or end of the ask – it’s fun to see all the different interpretations and directions!
Multiple asks & character limits
The limit on an ask box is 500 characters, including spaces and punctuation. If you’re finding that you’re running out of space within the ask box, you can send multiple asks with whatever you’re writing. However, if you’re doing this; do send everything in one stretch so there’s no confusion.
Content warnings
Do give an appropriate trigger warning if the content you’re sending has potential trigger warnings. Here is a useful post to understand what could be potentially triggering.
Inappropriate content & what we won’t publish
We will not be sharing harmful content or hateful content. This is including but not limited to: promotion of abusive behaviour and slurs, hate towards real people (e.g. Jim and Veronica etc., specific fans or blogs, marginalised groups). Drabble-asks which contain 'period typical discrimination’ require appropriate trigger warnings and will be reviewed by the mods on a case-by-case basis.
Any ask which goes against the rules of the event will not be published.
Any more advice?
Here is a useful post to avoid the influence of misogyny while writing female characters into your work. This might not even be intentional, but is something we as a fandom and as authors can change in our content.
Hi all, here is my contribution to day 2 of DeacuryWeek2021, I hope you enjoy. This is a little dark for me, and I’m not used to writing in the first person. But I thought it was good for a change. :D
this was a very chilling read, but very well done too! I quite enjoyed the first person POV for this and it was an extremely rare take I’ve seen on Deacury! Thank you for your contribution 💖💖
