Itโs so strange to me how no one does this with any other gay celebrity. Elton John originally came out as bisexual. He was engaged to a woman, then married to a different woman. And then he came out as gay and no one argues it. George Michael originally came out as bisexual, has been with women, then came out as gay and no one argues it. Itโs an extremely common experience for gay men, especially in a time when the world was not as welcoming.
But with Freddie everyone is โbut Maryโ โbut he said thisโ โbut he never labeled himself.โ
Like. The facts are that he explicitly called himself gay in more interviews than in which he alluded to sleeping with women. He had a well-known terrible relationship with the press and seemingly wanted to maintain an air of mystique and likely felt they werenโt entitled to exact details. Very fair. This doesnโt change the fact that everyone close to him maintains that he only ever called himself gay privately, told people he wasnโt bi, and many of them have corrected people who say otherwise (Brian, Crystal, Thor, etc.)
Itโs just weird to me how this โno he was bi because past relationships/commentsโ phenomenon seemingly exists only for Freddie. Itโs like people have blinders on
