The Chosen Lore Drop
In some connection to how Elsen are made in my headcanon, the Elsens dubbed as "Chosen" were those directly created by the Guardians. They are best identified by their exaggerated physical and/or mental attributes, which were influenced by their respective guardians and their values.
I have created some lineups featuring my favorite Chosens and explaining what influenced their designs (in-universe and out), plus a little about each of them. Some will have more information than others because I still want to avoid spoilers! For reference, Finch is not a Chosen, and "Average Elsen" reflects the average size of a Zone Quota Elsen.
Dedan's Chosen
Dedan's Chosen (DC's) are biased to be large and muscular, as Dedan values strength over everything else. DC's can be separated into two sub-categories; Realistic and Unrealistic. Realistic DC's designs are inspired by body-builders and tradesmen, whereas Unrealistic DC's (or in this case just Ceasar's) design was influenced by Sloth from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Realistic Chosens are more common than Unrealistic, as they are more accustomed to daily life and are more physically stable. Realistics also tend to be younger than their Unrealistic counterparts, as they are the product of Dedan learning from his mistakes.
Dedan's elements of choice are Meat and Metal.
Levi - A rancher, he tends to the cows as his job. He's the youngest of the listed DC's. He's actually goat/ram themed vs cow themed, though it's more obvious in his burnt form (see link in name).
Plato - A mining director, he trail-blazes new paths in the Smoke Mines as his job. He wears a gas mask to prevent Oversaturation.
Dulcea - An architect, she makes sure there's a specialized space for everything. She was the most influenced by female weight-lifters. I see her carrying a big bunch of metal beams over her shoulder.
Ceasar - A butcher, and the last of the Unrealistic DC's. He's a bit of a monster, and usually keeps to himself.
Japhet's Chosen
Japhet's Chosen (JC's) don't have a noticeable physical bias at first glance, but looking at them as a whole reveals that Japhet is constantly trying something new. No Chosen will look or act the same under his watch, as Japhet values Variety over everything else. While Japhet is very protective of his Chosens and calls them his "children", he treats them and their creation more like toys or as his original characters, do not steal. He makes the most Chosens vs the other guardians, and still occasionally makes one.
Japhets element of choice is Plastic, but he is not picky if there is more of another resource to use.
Pipin - They were to be permanently Muted. Obviously they find other ways to communicate, and work as a nurse.
Lucas - He was created to be friendly. Japhet hoped for a smiling face to be the librarian that stands at the front desk, but while Lucas is extremely lovable, he's too anxious to take such an important role.
Bandit - Didn't expect to see this guy in any of these, did ya'? Well funnily enough, the reason Bandit has No Fear is because Japhet hated how fearful his average citizens had become. Varik was created in an attempt to remedy that. It uh.. certainly created a well-adjusted individual... for sure...
Den - He was created as an outlet for Japhet's anger. He left for Zone 3 soon after. Hates Japhet.
Tik - He was created sometime during Japhet's decent into madness. He's the youngest of the JC's listed here. I've talked a little about him before, but as a short sum-up, he fully thinks he's a spectre and is very violent.
Enoch's Chosen
Enoch's Chosen (EC's) are biased to be shorter and stockier than the average Elsen, as Enoch resorted to trying to use as little resources as possible when creating Elsens. Enoch worked smarter not harder to produce productive and intelligent Elsens for as little as possible, as he values Efficiency over everything else. EC's are usually researchers and scientists, and there are very few left due to how dangerous Zone 3 can be. It is very rare to see one as their usually kept sequestered into offices in Area 4.
Enoch uses solely Meat. If not from cow meat, from his own body.
Lute - The youngest of the EC's. He works as a doctor. He lost his arm to a Von Gacy but that doesn't let that stop him. He likes to conduct experiments on his patients.
Tart - General Researcher, has a grand base of knowledge in most of the goings on. She's usually assigned to guide less-experienced scientists and gets paid handsomely for it.
Mince - Researcher involved in sugar purity testing. He's not doing so well lately...
Monty - The first (therefore oldest) of the EC's, and the only one of this list that's dead. I just felt it'd be wrong to not include him. He was created before Enoch decided to restrict resource use, and therefore broke the mold of EC's before his death. Enoch elected him as the Head Scientist because of his height, and confidence that his first try in making an Elsen was the best.
Here's everyone lined up all in one picture!
Thank you all who voted in the poll! I hope you enjoy this lore drop! I look forward to what will come next :)

Jurnal #75
Wow, two weeks late with my Journal! That's outrageous, I'm so sorry. But I was in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, and I was completely out of my mind to take care of my online things. Japan is an incredible country, though, where I got to meet lots of Off fans, and I'll be making another post about that soon after this one, because I think it's important.
Also, I hardly did any drawing there, and before that I was pretty busy with commissions and administrative work, so unfortunately I don't have much to show you. Here's a picture of my ideas for Sonic Adventure 3.
And here's a photo of Japan, the country I visited.
My fun suggestions for this month are:
Landscape paintings by the artist Félix Vallotton. He's not the most famous visual artist of his generation, but he's not completely obscure either, and you can easily find his work online. His sunsets and beaches with old trees strike me like a thunderbolt. The colors, the light, the shapes, the undulations and zigzags—it's incredibly powerful.
Ramen. It's a very easy dish to find in Japan; it's noodles in broth, often accompanied by meat or vegetables. It's delicious. I know it's unbearable to only talk about Japan.
We'll meet again in two weeks for a new post that will perhaps be more substantial than this one. I hope so.
To the Off fan community in Japan
I'm still in disbelief about what happened in Shibuya and meeting so many of you. It felt like a dream. It was an incredible moment; I didn't expect so many of you to be there, or to be so invested in my game's universe. Thank you so much for that, but also for your kindness, and for your involvement. I'm also truly sorry to everyone who couldn't get a ticket. I hope to return to Japan someday and offer you another gathering, perhaps on a larger scale.
Thank you also so much for all your letters, illustrations, and handmade goodies. I took the time to read everything carefully, and I was very moved and happy to receive all these messages. I will treasure them forever.
I made this little image to thank you. Like many of you, I also used Google Translate to write the text. I hope it's correct!
