"Of course, Fiora. I said I’d had my fill. I did not say that I planned on leaving. Unless, of course, that’s what you would rather me do?"
He picked the cup back up, finished what was left in it, and went for the bottle himself.
"I don't want you to leave", simple, strong. Fiora let him take the bottle, moving to take another bite of cheese. "If I could be as greedy as you are, I would make sure you wouldn't leave this place again".
"Not all of them are ugly or old, dolcezza. Why, I believe a good many of your sort end up there. Young, nubile, rears ripe for pinching beneath those robes," he offered her a languid smirk and set his cup down.
He pushed himself away from the table, stood. “Believe I’ve had my fill for now.”
If she could roll her eyes a little more, she would. Ah, that ego of his. Never knew an end to it, or when to be pushed aside. All in the world was good for his eyes, and nothing else mattered but his wine and a pair of tits to grab.
Fiora felt a little envious about that way of living. But she wouldn't tell. To be able to live without a care in the world, what a wonderful thing. She frowned after he pushed his plate and stood. "Already? And here I got you so much food thinking you would want a feast!" she sighed, shrugging. "You'll drink the wine at least, won't you?".
Il Lupo was as careless with his thoughts as he was aloof and it had always played out in his favour; Show no particular passion for your work, and it will not be misconstrued as compensation. Show no disdain and you will not be seen as a traitor. He worked efficiently and quickly and asked nothing but decent payment.
Il Lupo had always seen himself as a traitor, though. To what or to whom, he had no idea.
He watched her fill his cup and smirked. “No, no, I doubt it’s possible. I like money and whores and wine far too much to live any other way. Corrupting nuns with my lecherous ways is not something I’ve prioritised.”
"I can but imagine you surrounded by ugly, old women, charming them to get some more wine or food...." It made her laugh. And by laughing, she was leaving the former conversation behind. Maybe for other moment, when they could both ask the questions they both wanted answers for without feeling as if one would judge the other.
Because, the way he looked at her while explaining why he didn't thought he would accept his proposal was a little...uncomfortable.
Fiora always wondered about his reasons to do what he did things. Why, if he could walk away from all before it started, why did he stayed? Why is he still there?
Vicenzo leaned forwards to fold his arms atop the table, his eyes still hard and locked on her. “If you and I survive the Templar Order,” he began gravely, “Then neither of us will see the filth of this city again, not the filth of the Borgias nor the Order as a whole. We will run far away from here. Unfortunately, the only safe way to do so is take solace as traitors. I think you and I both know that.”
He shifted, eyes drifting away from her face. “And I, for one, think both the Templars and the Assassins are hopelessly misguided.”
He picked up his glass of wine and swirled what remained inside of it. A small smile tugged at his lips; he needed to lighten the mood. “Alas, I’ve no interest in biting the hand that feeds. I’m a loyal dog. Perhaps the answer lies in joining a convent.”
"That is no solace at all. We would be hunted. We would never be able to enjoy all of your plans for us", she shook her head, her eyes dropping for a moment. Who do you serve, then, Lupo? It was not the first time he said something about his opinion of the Order. He was careful when he needed to be, and knew best than to let his mind wander too far. Yet he was safe in her house. She would defend him against anything and anyone that came for his head for having a thought about what the Order represented.
Why do you do this to yourself? For me? I'm but a courtesan, a highly paid one, yet still....
Everything she had done was to further Cesare's plans -only to kill who he wanted to be killed, to blackmail who he wanted. If it was in the name of the Templar Order or not, it was never clear. The only mention of something done to further the order's plans sat right in front of her, and he had no love lost for either side.
She couldn't help but laugh. "I can't imagine you joining a convent", she moved up, to grab the bottle of wine and walk towards him to refill his cup. "You, giving up the good wine and the greater company, living only to do what God commands you to do...not possible, isn't it?".
"You will not agree," he said tersely, shoulders shrugging. "You have too much common sense and place too much value on responsibility to do so."
He took another few bites, dabbed his mouth with the cloth napkin. Reclined in his seat and folded his hands in his lap. His gaze was hard and cut the air like a knife. “And the dog is not stupid, Fiora.”
She was glad to be able to hide her disappointment, and any other emotion. He was right, of course --she had common sense and values responsibility greatly, but she wanted what he offered, and to that moment, she wasn't aware she wanted it badly.
But, if she did so, she would lose everything she had fought to obtain. Everything she deserved, everything she gained. All, for nothing. For a moment of freedom. For an emotion she wasn't sure if she should indulge in.
She didn't deserved what he offered.
"Maybe, maybe not", she sipped from her wine, reaching for another bite of cheese. "But I will keep your desire in mind. Maybe one day we will earn a break, and the thought of you locking me away in a safe and private place sounds perfect".
He trained his eyes on her again, a brow still quirked. He leaned back in his seat after finishing another bite and brushed his hair off of his forehead.
"Dolcezza, I would take you far away from Rome. I would lock you somewhere that only Il Lupo knows, safe, private, and I would keep you as mine like the selfish, greedy dog I am," he paused only to give her a wry smile, "And I would do all manner of sinful things with you, my dearest Fiora. I am quite the lecher, or so you’ve claimed from time to time."
Do so. Do so right now. Cesare wouldn't let her live, wouldn't let them live if they disappeared like that. Maybe tell him a careful half lie, a mission, something that would keep him away from them. A safe, private place far from home, far from missions, and only with him.
Do so right now, Lupo. She remained silent for a moment, thinking, observing his face. "Sounds quite tempting, my Lupo", she took a small sip from her wine. "What if I agree?".
He looked at her while he chewed, reaching for his cup. Raised a brow, shrugged. “I would trust such power more in your hands than I would in mine.”
His thoughts and ideas were sinful, lustful. Thoughts that endangered their work. He harboured a careless sort of love for her though, and it was a love that pierced him to the bone. He cared about her, violently, far beyond any physical urge. It overwhelmed common sense. Il Lupo did not much care.
He took another bite of his food, chewing quickly.
Tempting, truly. She had to drown her words with wine, or it would be too obvious. Fiora was not sure how he did it, but he made her feel desired without feeling repulsed by the thought. The closer they grew, the more time she wanted alone with him, the badder she wanted him to touch her. It was quite tempting to let him take control and so whatever he desired, for better or worse. It took her an incredible amount of will to not let her feelings for him do the talking.
But, god, she wanted him. Not just for sex.
"How so?" she asked, genuinely curious. "What would you do with such power?"
He considered that power, a small smirk slowly spreading across his lips. Sinful thoughts bred quickly in his mind, and he had to remember where he was. He shook it away just as quickly as it had appeared and took a seat at the table.
The food made his mouth water- he’d been on a diet of bread and cheeses and wine lately, for convenience sake- it had been a long time since he’d been presented with good meat.
"You may regret giving me so much power, dearest," he mused, diving into his meal.
"Will I?" she moved to fill both cups, setting one next to him and carrying the other over while taking a piece of cheese with her. Would she truly regret giving him any power to decide what to do? She doubt it. What could he do with that power? Many things. That smirk on his lips prove as much. Lustful things? She would be disappointed if he didn't saw her like that. Then again, she didn't wanted him to look at her with that kind of purpose.
Thoughts she had to push behind. No, no closer connections, no matter how much she wanted to sl-- "I think I might have some fun as well with that power, wouldn't I?".
"Ah, it would make sense that you eat out more often than not." He reclined against the wall, watching her, foot tapping. Il Lupo could not recall the last time he didn’t eat out; He typically took his meals in taverns and inns, with ale in one hand and a woman in his lap. What a way to live.
"Well, tonight we will dine wherever you are comfortable, dolcezza. There is no need to put on a show for a dog like me."
"But I do need to put on a show for a dog like you", she set both cups on the table, along with the food she had asked for. She wasn't sure if he was the roasted chicken kind of individual, but dogs ate what they were offered, weren't they? He could eat all if he wanted to.
"I am a woman of my word, after all, and I did said would show you how I treat people who I consider important for me", she turned to him. "And maybe for this time I will have you decide where you want to do whatever you want to do. Make good use of that power".
Just for one night. He made her vulnerable enough, any day regardless.
He hummed, contemplating that for a moment with pursed lips. “Where do you typically dine?”
"Depends on what I'm sent to do", Fiora moved across the room to look for cups, thinking for a moment. "When he needs me to do some...intimate missions, I dine with my targets. Or a brothel. There are nice cooks in some brothels around, you should know. I dined once with Cesare, at one of his properties. I should take you with me once he invites me again, the food is fantastic. When I'm forced to stay on a low profile, I cook...but you are lucky you don't have to try it".
He winked, took the bottle from her, and sighed, “Aah, dolcezza, you know how to treat a man. A good, strong red. Where will we be dining?”
"Only those I hold in high esteem, my Lupo", she waved her hand for him to follow her into another room. "I rarely use the dine room, but charming guests get the best of what I can offer".
"No small visit, no. I will be around a while, if you will have me. I do not seem to be intruding," he smiled at her, small and fond, while she fixed his hair, entertaining how easily it would be to snag a kiss.
But she moved, and he followed behind, predatory eyes glued to her as she walked. “What did you find for us to drink, hmn?”
"Only the best I could find", she turned, holding a bottle of the red wine he fancied, presenting the bottle to him. Spoiling him wasn't such a bad deal considering how loyal he had been to her. Besides, Fiora loved to see him smile. Among other things. "A little bribe, in case you wanted to leave early. As for food, I had a cento occhi do me a favor and look for some from an inn. You are not intruding and I want you to stay for a while".
"Well, it certainly is difficult to be as handsome as me. Don’t blame them," he moved inside, pushing his hood back and raking a hand through his hair. He grinned. "Buonasera, dolcezza."
He was right, though. Finding handsome clients was hard sometimes, specially when Solari was out with the other girls. Not a night to remember those days, though. "It's quite good to see you found some time to see me, signore", she started, pushing the door closed. "I trust it won't be a small visit, si?"
Moving away from the door, she moved a hand up, to his hair, fixing some strands his ruffle might've missed. She would've loved to linger nearby for a little more, yet she continued walking, searching for the bottle she had promised to find for him.
Knuckles rapped against her door and he spoke with a smile in his voice, “My Fiora, dearest, a client to see you.”
Swiftly, she moves to the door and opens it, concealing how glad she was that he was true to his word. "My, I wasn't prepared for a handsome client", she would respond, pushing the door enough for him to get inside.
"Lupo can’t always get the best jobs, now, should he?"
He can, and he should.
Greedy. You should share every now and then.

"I’ve been… Fine. Restless, as well, but nothing that work cannot fix. And yourself?"
"I've been good, always the busy lady. If it's work you need I can get something for you. Lupo can't always get the best jobs, now, should he?"
