Wiggling, the snake booped his snout against the hand that petted him. Yes, he was feeling good! He smelt the cake being baked, and of course he knew what that meant- snacks! Snack, snack, snacks!

Rania smiled and glanced at Ettie, who seemed to be less scared of the great snake now. “Come on, Ink is friendly. Ink, this is Ettie, she’s one of my maids,” she said, trying to see if there was any way to possibly help the poor thing untangle himself from Jacob’s old bunkbed.
Tail end wiggling, Ink managed to stretch himself out enough to boop Ettie. However, he was still quite knotted- and his movement was not helping, so with a sad hiss he flopped back down against the bunk bed. New people or not, he was stuck!

Rania saw Ink and smiled, calling Ettie back, telling the poor girl that there was nothing to worry about. “Hello Ink,” she said, pressing a gentle kiss to the snake’s head. “How are you, most precious snake in all the world?”
Stuck! The snake flicked his tongue out, returning the kisses back to the duchess. For a creature who just knotted himself up, he was in pretty good spirits!

It was always a mystery to how a giant snake somehow sneaked into places he shouldn’t be, but here he was- stuck with a goofy look on his dear little snout as Rania came to see what caused one of the maids to run off screaming. The serpent was just hanging all tangled up around a child’s bunk-bed, the snake seeming to have knotted himself up while chasing something. [Or maybe he was just exploring? Who knows.]

Rania patted the seat beside her on the sofa. “Come on, Ink. I’m looking through my old VFD journals. You might learn a thing or two about Monty or Gustav.”
Eyes brightening at the names, the snake quickly crawled onto the sofa and then curled up around Rania’s body. His head rested next to her own, he watched the journal cover as he awaited it to be open.

“How good are you at locating specific books in a library?” Dewey asked, eyeing the snake curiously. “Can you utilize a numerical system of - no, of course not, what was I thinking?” He shook his head. “Snakes can’t count past twenty, everyone knows that. Or can they? Can you? Are you perhaps a very uniquely intelligent snake?”
Did he want him to count? The snake stared for a few moments, before starting to tap out numbers. One tap. Two taps. Three taps.. This was going to take a while, wasn’t it?

Kit read meaning in the curves and swoops of Ink’s body. “Look, of you want me to get to sleep sooner, you can help. I need everything written by K.M. And also everything mentioning crickets.”
Sitting up, the snake nodded before quickly slithering off the chair where he sat.. and went right to Kit’s bookshelf to look. He pulled out everything that had the letters ‘K’ and ‘M’ beside each other, and scanned each book for some sort of details about if it had something to do with bugs or not.

Rory could have hugged Ink when they finally stumbled out of the maze, and showered the snake in scritches. “Thanks Ink, I like, totally thought I was going to like, die in there.” Occasionally their dramatics did reach extreme levels, but they were, technically an actor after all.
Happy as can be, the snake hissed and snuggled his face closer against Rory. Yes, he was a good snake- he was the saviour of the maze! [Also at times, the maze helper as he liked to help Gustav with it.]

“So?” Kit replied automatically, still rushing about. She paused momentarily when she saw the look on Ink’s face- how could a snake be so expressive? Her shoulders dropped and she sighed. “Look, Ink, this is important. Far more important than a bit of sleep.”
Can’t I help? The snake seemed to ask as he started to move off of the chair he was sitting on. For a snake, he could express a lot through his face- and believe it or not, through his body language. Of course he was just a big noodle, but so what? Ink been around humans long enough to find his own way of speaking.

“Oh, uh, good, because like, i made a bunch of cakes for my boss but like, he didnt seem too impressed with most of them.” Rory held out a misshapen and partially burnt object that probably resembled a cake in flavour but not much else.
Not minding at all how it looked, the snake slithered over and opened his mouth to take a bite. It smelt like cake, and it tasted like cake- and Monty was not going to be happy when he found out someone fed his snake a whole cake. Thankfully it didn’t look like one, so Monty would never know! Till... Ink laid all sick in his cage from eating so much sugar.
