AU!Dean didn’t have a Cas that he was in love with. He never had a Cas, period. The reason AU!Dean and Sam aren’t as interesting to Chuck is because Sam and Dean alone aren’t interesting. Only with Castiel does the narrative suddenly turn into something bigger and better and greater than itself. Cas and Sam and Dean together is what makes the magic of it.

So no, AU!Dean didn’t have a Cas.

Because if he did, Chuck would’ve saved them.
