So, now we're looking at it from a parental perspective, which is a lot more black and white. The songs were Strangers, Rotten To The Core and Don't Speak if I remember correctly.

These songs may seem very 2D at first, but there's actually a couple of sides to them.

Side 1: The parental figure AND yourself have a negative relationship. This can be due to miscommunication, a strained relationship or just altogether uncomfortable feelings. You feel like strangers.

Side 2: The relationship in itself is not negative, but your internal feelings are. These (in this scenario) are feelings of insecurity, which implies that you may have looked up to your parental figure and felt a pressure to impress / be like / please them. You feel like a stranger to yourself in your quest for validity.

Side 3: The parental figure is emotionally negative overall. They contribute feelings of superiority to yourself and are, to put it bluntly, entitled - creating a feeling of stranger-like alien to your relationship, as is true for all above.

I think the songs speak for themselves and you can immediately see the negative connotations with each. Since this ask is specifically about your relationship with this person (unspecified) (HL) there could be many misunderstandings and negative feelings.

But this all depends on your relationship with that person/entity. If they are your romantic partner, it could (as said above) include misunderstanding, miscommunication and something that is uncomfortable / an uncomfortable topic in your relationship. But if this goes against your gut feeling or you have a memory that proves otherwise, you could remember your feelings against yourself as the result.
