(via Amsterdam specialty coffee guide)
The Netherlands is one of the top coffee-consuming countries in the world, so it’s evident that its Capital is a home for a bunch of excellent specialty coffee shops. As one of the world’s favorite capitals for travelers, expats, and global citizens, Amsterdam became to be an international hub for art and music with a real quality life. The town has one of Europe’s most exciting and progressive specialty coffee scenes, which have grown exponentially around each other over the last years. In June 2018 one of the most significant events over the year, World of Coffee, was held in the RAI Expo area in Amsterdam. This event attracted many world-renowned coffee experts, baristas, farmers, roasters and enthusiasts. On the occasion of this event, we went on a tour of the best coffee shops in Amsterdam. We hope you find our Amsterdam Specialty Coffee Guide useful as you explore this stunning town.
White Label Coffee
We had to be lucky to be located just around the corner from White Label Coffee. The cozy hipster place comes with own roastery and offers coffee with a wide selection of origins. The guys here brew espresso ”double naked”, the way, which has been becoming favorite in many specialty coffee shops. The bright and inviting interior combines with a pleasant smell of quality coffee. The menu offers a wide selection of alternative preparations and coffee drinks. We set off to White Label, and we were not disappointed. The delicious brew, tasty espresso, and home-made müsli created an even better start to our day, and it is a definitely a place to go when it is about specialty coffee.
C • T coffee & coconuts
This place wins with its unique design and its the trendy spot for young. The house was initially an old theatre, which was built in the 1920s. Now it set as a spacious, three-floor coffee shop-bar comes with the original, colorful and fun interior. Although they do not produce they own coffee, they serve an excellent coffee from Friedhats roastery and White Label Coffee Roastery. The menu is well extended with fresh juices, some delicious cuisine and a couple of first drinks. The house also works as a venue for concerts and events.
Scandinavian Embassy
The Scandinavian embassy has brought to Amsterdam a little of a Scandinavian breeze. The beautiful design combines with delightful cuisine and great coffee. They offer various small roasters from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway and so enrich a local coffee scene with some fascinating pieces. Among the options, you can find for example the favorite Coffee Collective, Koppi or La Cabra. The Scandinavian Embassy also provide courses such as coffee brewing, espresso course or tasting sessions. These guys connect the best coffee with delicious food experience. The menu includes various options for breakfast as well as for a day meals. We recommend you to go for renowned Scandinavian cinnamon balls!
Lot Sixty one
The Lot Sixty One is the last coffee roastery in our guide. This tiny coffee shop and roastery was founded by two Australians, who came to Amsterdam from one of the most popular coffee bars in New York. The café is located on one corner of Kikerstraat, in Amsterdam’s area which has been radically growing popular since last decade. The cute outside sitting just invites for a cup of coffee as well as well designed interior. A lot of new stores and hipster places opened around together with Lot Sixty One. Lot sixty one undoubtedly roast one of the best coffee beans you can get in Amsterdam, and besides of it, they create exciting workshops.
