IT IS MY TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF WRITING LOKI

Even though lately I have been so busy that I have been off, rather than on re: writing, I still enjoy my hobby and all the friends I have made and fun I have had.  I plan on continuing to write here, albeit slowly, and I am forever appreciative of all of you who have put up with me this long, and are patient as ever with my replies.  You make me feel like speed is not an issue, and that I am genuinely appreciated for my rping and friendship.

Ten years

Omg I can’t believe it’s been so long I feel like I just made this blog like a year ago lmao

I know I’ve been super absent here for a while too but I think about all the good times on this blog a lot and how much fun we had writing together and I cherish it 💕

I don’t have any plans to leave this blog either although obviously I’m not super active on it rip and you know I’m always around and available on discord just come shout at me if you ever need me 🙌

Okay… that was the second class of the day, and now it was out of the way. Carlos watched as the young adults in the lecture hall packed up and filed out of the seating and down to the doors. It struck him as familiar - from when he was back at the University of Whatitis and would give an occasional lecture when he was invited. If he didn’t think to hard, he could almost forget the past few years with Hammer’s company.

He was being called ‘Dr Ramon’ again, which was not exactly something he thought he missed until the students started bidding him a good day.

It was weird. It was a little emotional, actually. Carlos wasn’t sure how he was supposed to feel.

As the students left, he busied himself with tidying up the desk at the front for the next class, putting his notes back in order and trying not to think too hard about anything, really.

It took a few minutes for Peter to realize who his new professor was, but once his sleep-deprived mind caught up with what was going on, his heart leapt in his chest. It wasn’t often he actually got to see the lives of the people he’d met as Spider-Man improve, but he was thrilled when he recognized Carlos standing there at the front of the class.

Once the lecture was over and people began filing out, the brunet took his time packing up his bag and then made his way down to speak with him. “Hey, uh.... Dr. Ramon? I just wanted to say I really enjoyed your lecture today. I’ve been looking forward to this class and I’m really excited to be learning from someone with so much real-world experience.”

“Why not?” asked Tony.  “We are just information in our brains, right?  Upload my information into your body and vice-versa, and we’ve got this situation.  It’s just neurology instead of physics.  My point remains - there’s a reason why this happened and there’s a way to fix it.”

“I–––” He paused, frowning. Honestly, that thought was even more terrifying than magic was on its own. If their minds could just be downloaded, what was there to stop their enemies from figuring out that kind of tech and using it against them? “Oh my God, that just made it worse, dude....... I hate this. I hate this so much, I just want things to go back to normal and I want to go home–– and I really really hate this thing.” He scratched around the arc reactor, letting out a frustrated little noise. “It’s so uncomfortable, how do you even deal with it all the time?”

“Look at me,” Tony ordered.  “Calm down.”  He did make a mental note that Peter apparently had panic attacks, and could probably use some help with that, but he had to handle this specific situation first.  It was absolutely horrible watching his own body go through this.  He was so glad the suit had always managed to keep people from watching.  “Remember what Dr. Foster says: magic is just science we don’t understand.  Whatever this is, we can figure it out.”

Peter’s eyes snapped to Tony’s at the order, he shouldn’t still sound so commanding with that squeaky little teen voice, but maybe it was just the confidence with which he spoke that he was responding to more than his actual voice. “I–– doesn’t that refer more to like..... teleportation and stuff? I’m not sure..... this scenario is really what she meant.....”

“No, it’s not normal, but we don’t do normal things,” said Tony.  “We’re kinda used to the weird stuff.  If we can handle the monsters and aliens, we can handle this.  I need you to take some deep breaths before you have an anxiety attack.”  That was weird… Tony’s anxiety and PTSD were psychological problems, weren’t they?  Shouldn’t they have come with his mind, instead of staying in his body?

“Monsters and aliens aren’t magic though.” Peter groaned. Nothing about this was remotely like the types of things they dealt with and he couldn’t even begin to come up with any ideas for where to start working on it. At Tony’s order, he just waved him off, he wasn’t about to lose it, just stressed as hell. “I’m fine, I’m not–– I’ve had panic attacks before, this isn’t..... that. I’m just...... worried.”

All At Once - The Fray

The trickster’s eyes look weary for once, lacking their notoriously mischievous sparkle.  He sighs and the weight of the realms seems to bear upon his shoulders and for once he looks almost small where he sits, perched on the building ledge at their usual meeting spot.

“Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.”

Peter had noticed the trickster’s demeanor was off, quiet wasn’t unusual, but he just looked so tired and it had him a little concerned. Still, he tried not to pry, simply offered him the hot dog he’d brought up for him and waited for him to speak. When Loki finally voiced his thoughts, the teen paused mid-chew and glanced over with a little frown.

“Hey....” He started once he’d swallowed the bite he was working on. “Are you okay, dude? Do you..... want to talk about anything?”

Tony came back to find Peter sitting there fretting - Tony had never seen anybody actually fret before, and it gave a new layer of meaning to the word.  It was what Peter said, though, that made Tony’s stomach turn inside-out.

“Don’t even say that,” he said.  “If Strange can’t fix it, he’ll how somebody who can - or if not, then we’ll figure it out for ourselves.  We’re a pair of smart guys.”  He would absolutely not be stuck like this.  Peter was young enough to be Pepper’s son.  “It happened, there’s got to be a way to make it un-happen.”

“This isn’t like..... like a normal sciency problem. I don’t know what that lady did to us, but it definitely isn’t normal, how the heck could we possibly fix this on our own?” He let out a sigh and scrubbed his hands down his face, not panicking right now, at least, but clearly struggling to keep his cool. “I don’t know, man. This is just..... it’s a lot, y’know? I just..... really hope Doctor Strange gets back to us like..... soon.”

“Probably,” she says, between bites, chewing a little more thoughtfully than before now that she’s gotten the first few bites down.  “That sounds a little more interesting than my work.”  More chewing.  More thinky thoughts.  “Not exactly the same thing, but you could see if you could do some aerodynamics analysis on one of those feathery Valkyries that hangs around.  The red headed one that always breaks stuff would probably be down…can’t think of her name…Brunhilde? Brenda? Brynja? something like that,” she suggests, gesturing vaguely with her chopsticks.

“Mmmm..... I dunno, there’s more variety in the types of projects I get to do, but I don’t think it’s more interesting, necessarily.” He lets out a soft laugh and starts working on his own lunch. “That’s a good idea, I bet she could give me some good insight into the types of things I need to consider with something like that, heh. Although there’s gonna be some stuff that’s different with more of a jet pack style flight suit than a wing suit like Falcon’s. And Brynja sounds right–– I know for sure it’s not Brenda, anyway.”

That. That might be a problem. For the magister, of course, not him. If anyone wanted to come after the kid and drag him back to his master, they’d have to go through him first.

And he was a tough person to get through, even despite his being qunari.

“Gon’ be hard pressed to get to you once we’re back with the rest of the Inquisition. Many people there. They can help protect you. And teach you how to protect yourself.” They’d sooner pry the kid from his cold, dead fingers.

Peter’s face brightened at that, he didn’t know much about the Inquisition, although he’d heard it mentioned in passing a few times, but he knew it was big and a lot of people meant more protection–– although it did make him a little nervous to consider how many people would be at risk with him around. Still, if Isaam insisted they’d protect him, he had to believe him. 

“Thank you.” He replied softly, a little smile tugging at his lips. “You are very kind. I am feel safe with you. You are good person.”

Carlos chuckled. “Nah, he’s probably smarter than me,” Carlos said. “I’ve only got, like… five degrees? I think he has eight or so by now - all still useful. And my snark left me a long time ago.” Which obviously wasn’t true - he was still trying to be funny, if at the risk of self-deprecation. But honestly, he thought humor just didn’t feel the same as it used to.

“Not doubting your common sense, dude,” Carlos told him with a smile. “And you’re very welcome. I’m just glad to be of use. Stay safe out there, Spidey. Have a good night.”

“Five is still a lot better than I’m doing. I bet you even have at least one PhD, that’s better than I’m doing.” He gave him a wink, the mask somehow managing to mimic the expression.

“Alright then, I’ll see ya soon, man. Have a good night!” Hopping up on the parapet, he offered one last little wave, then stepped off the roof and swung off into the night.

It brought into question again just what kind of life this kid had been under and it bothered him that anyone would treat a kid like this. Best not to dwell on it over and over again lest he get upset.

He gently pat the smaller males shoulder, smiling gently.

“Well your master ain’t here so you don’t gotta worry ‘bout him while you’re with me.” And he was sure they were going to find plenty of people within the Inquisition who were of the same opinion.

He flinched slightly when Isaam reached down toward him, unused to anyone being so gentle with him, but when he realized the qunari was just being friendly, he relaxed and smiled softly back at him. It was strange, he still felt a little on-edge, but in his mind, he knew he was about as safe as he could be now. This would take some getting used to.

“Hmmm.... I do not know.” He hummed thoughtfully. “I think he is come. Look for me. I have fight slave hunters–– ah.... I run from hunters. He want to take me home.....”

He slipped into the bathroom to change his clothes… at first he looked in the mirror, just because it was so weird to look at what ought to have been him but was Peter instead.  Then he realized he couldn’t watch Peter change, even if it was him, so he turned his back to the mirror to do so.

“Okay,” he said, coming out of the bathroom again.  “Let’s see what we’ve got here.”

The weirdness of it all hit him as he realized that Tony was currently in his body, getting changed. Even if he didn’t watch himself, he’d still end up seeing a whole lot more of him than he probably ever would have otherwise and it.... was awkward.

When he returned, Peter was sitting there with a strange look on his face that was somewhere between a frown and extreme anxiety. “Mr. Stark.... what’s going to happen if Doctor Strange can’t fix this for us? No offense, but I don’t want to be you. For one thing, I can’t handle all the attention, but also..... you’re so much older than me and the girl I’m crushing on is sixteen. I’d look like a total creep if I tried to talk to her like this!”
