In the 1950s, dresses with a sweetheart “illusion bodice” in a contrasting or sheer fabric were extremely popular, particularly party dresses or wedding gowns, like 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5.

In other news...

I got my first actual dress form today!!! It came in a huge box... with no instruction manual. So it's not a "professional" dressform, but it is pinnable and it matches my measurements. So, until I can save up some coin for a nice one, i've just gotta work with what I got. I'll post some pictures later when I find my camera.
