Once Thanatos got his ring back from Riddle, he disappeared, never to be found again by anyone. He didn’t want to be found, nor did Death want him to be found. Death transformed him into someone who no longer needed to be bound to his brothers or Voldemort, someone who was finally free of all those that tried to bound him to the earth.

He was his own person rather than just a Horcurx and Death loved him and he loved Death back. He choose to be Death’s consort rather than forced into the role of being second to the overly controlling Riddle. 

Two rings sat on his hands in the end. The original ring, which Death had declared his engagement ring and his marriage ring, given to him after he had made his final vows to the spirit-deity of Death.

And he was finally happy, able to be himself without having to apologize.

Actually this blog is going on hiatus. I find that I put a lot of my soul (’ha’) into this and get very little in the way of emotional return and that is incredibly unhealthy for me and it pisses me off that I put so much effort into the writing I and not enough actual real feedback. 

Then again an anon whining about how I don’t appreciate them enough.

OH I AM SO SORRY THAT THE WRITER WHO SPENDS THEIR FREE TIME OUT OF WORK CREATING FREE CONTENT FOR YOU DOESN’T APPRECIATE YOU /ENOUGH/. 

I’m going to work on my original fiction, stuff I can actually get paid for.

Tomorrow is his birthday, so I thought, ‘Why not? Let’s doodle and get depressed.’

I have a lot of sketches now, too many featuring Tom in the orphanage… guess I was really desperate.

((I’m okay. Just yesterday I got triggered in a sense by the fact that I had plans to go to the bookstore down the street and get coffee or a hot chocolate and maybe look at books or buy a calendar for work, only to find that it had been booked for a wedding and therefore closed. Which really kinda fucked with me.

I’m dealing with a fuck ton of heartbreak and the realization that I’ve never been in a non-toxic romantic relationship despite being 30. Plus my cousin, who is six months older than me and more “successful” in life is getting married this coming July and so many of the people I know have wedding plans too and it just, why did a wedding have to ruin my plans?? Bookstores are places of comfort and I just felt hurt to be denied that when they’d be otherwise open.

At least I’m determined enough to make sure my cat has a forever home with me that she reminds me that I don’t want to die really. I just feel that way sometimes. I’m so lucky to have a snuggly kitty.))

I wish to know more

Tom lay out the cards for the person sitting before him, watching the person’s reaction carefully. This one was not masked like the two before.

The first card was the Devil. 

“This card is, luckily for you, in the position of things that you will be leaving behind that which binds you and consumes you, causing you nothing but misery. It is always good to let go of such things, take mind that you leave all of it behind.”

The second card: the King of Cups.

“This card possibly represents a person who is coming into the New Year with you, or just a general attitude that you are holding within yourself. A king does not always mean this figure is a male figure, but it would be someone who bears themselves as such. This is the generous host, the giver of the feast, who loves to watch those he loves take part in the joy he oversees. There is a lot of good in him and he loves to provide.”

“Whoever this is, whether it be male, female, both, or neither, they will be there to help you in the coming year.”

And the third and final card he lay down was the King of Swords. Another court card. Another sword card. He wondered about the amount of swords that had been showing up in this particular position.

“Much of what I have to say about kings and court cards apply here too. In the new year, there will be someone who is driven by communication, who knows when and where one should speak. Words can be weapons, as any good Slytherin knows and perhaps it is you who becomes a master of words or perhaps it will be someone you meet. I cannot tell if they will be a positive or negative influence. Just that they will be there.”

I don’t believe I really told anyone it was my birthday. I don’t tend to make a lot of a fuss about it. Just another year older as the year dies. Funny how death seems to follow me, doesn’t it?

Those lips moved and words were spoken.

“It is a time of endings and beginnings. An old year wanes as a new year prepares to be born. I offer a gift of a reading from my cards, three only: one of what you will leave behind, one of what you will take with you, and one of what awaits you.” He reveals a deck of cards on the table, his pale hands gesturing to them.

“If you wish to know what they say, send me a message saying ‘I wish to know more.’ and I shall respond. But don’t wait too long, I can only give this gift for a few days.”

I, the mun, must say that this is for entertainment only and that I reserve the right to stop taking requests early if I end up being overloaded. I wish to know more -a witch named Renee

Another masked reveler, this one introducing herself as Renee. He mused as he shuffled the cards, one slipping out as he did so. Taking it as the deck sending a message to him, he glanced at the card and frowned when he saw it was Death. Something was coming, a change perhaps, but he shuffled it back in, ignoring whatever the card had to say to him.

He turned his attention to the witch in front of him and turned over the first card he had placed down, Temperance. “This is a card of balance, of being centered and of stillness and not stillness. To maintain this state, one needs to concentrate on it all times. But this seems to be something that you will have to leave behind to move forward. Being in perfect balance means nothing changes, after all.”

“What you will bring with you,” he said, revealing the next card, “is the six of cups. Memories of your earlier peacefulness will be a source of strength in the coming times when you move forward and deal with the difficulties that life will throw you. Take care that you do not get lost in these memories, however.”

Finally, he overturned the last card, the two of swords. “The next year will bring you another balancing act, but instead of one where you are centered and at peace, you will be torn between two choices and feel like you are up a tightrope without a safety net. I can see why your memories of peaceful balance will be useful in the coming year: the coming year will bring you challenges that you take care to not panic over, yet not ignore.”

“Someone just as just as hidden as my own face, I see,” he smirked, knowing that other people chose to revel this night behind masks as well. New Years Eve was always an interesting night.

Laying out the cards, he revealed the first one to be the page of wands, revealing someone who is talented, yet shy, afraid to show her gifts. Perhaps you will leave behind in this year that shyness and start to show more confidence, no longer hiding behind your hair and instead facing life with more vigor, showing the strength you have hidden within yourself.”

The next card was the three of cups. “It seems like you will be bringing with you into the new year joy through companionship with others. This is always a lovely thing to have, people who support you in all of your endeavors.” He grinned, thinking of his own plans. “Celebrate these people.”

He revealed the final card, the four of swords. “Ah, one of the dreaded cards of the swords suite, but this one is not as bad as many of the others. It is a card of rest and respite. There will be problems, of course, in the coming year, but it does not mean you should stress out all the time about them. Make sure to take care of yourself. Perhaps spend time with those companions that three of cups alludes to?”

“Ah the first taker of my offer,” said Tom as he began to lay out the three cards, still hidden behind his costume, a grin playing on his lips. He overturned the first card, revealing the three of swords.

“The card of heartbreak. Something has caused you great sorrow in the previous year, something that has caused you great pain. That is the thing you will leave behind.” 

He turned over the next card: The Fool. “You will be bringing the hope of a new beginning into the new year, It is a fresh start and the beginning of a journey, that was only made possible by the heartbreak you’ve gone through.”

“But….,” he said as he turned over the last card, revealing itself as the Tower, “You’ll need your hope and strength because there will be a drastic change in your life in the coming year, one that changes everything and it will be a difficult one. But do not let it diminish the enthusiasm that you are going to bring into the new year.”
