i  cannot  stress  to  anyone  enough  how  demeaning  it  was  to  be  taken  ,  kept  ,  chained  by  a  mortal  man.  all  he  could  do  was  wait  to  be  released  ,  and  how  fortunate  for  the  undeserving  man  that  he  did  not  halt  in  his  workings.  How  bloated  the  earth  would  become  as  its  capacity  was  reached.

No, not paltry, Hektor reflected in his silence. Every single breath taken, bringing each mortal one step closer to Thanatos, was its own worship. He did not need fruits and incense paired with whispered platitudes and pleas. Only the first cry outside of their mother, breathing in the air of their home, signed away their shade for the inevitable to come. Hektor's gaze lowered to the hand of the god's, thoughtful yet disquiet.
