"Hey Shiloh," Lucas spoke up as he carried the last of the boxes in from the back, "I was wonderin'...I'm having my kids over for Thanksgiving. My ex wife won't be there but...well...I was wondering if you'd like to come?"
his hand was almost double the size of her’s. she couldn’t help but smile a bit, and at his grin, the young woman nodded in agreement. she resisted all urges to hug him tightly. ❝so i’m yours then?❞
"Mine," Lucas gave a grin and a nod, leaning back in his chair, "Only if you want to be though."
shiloh let out a small sigh, it seemed that every guy she dated always said ’she could do better’. if she didn’t want the person in front of her, there was no way the blonde would be there. ❝ yeah what’s your point? it’s not gonna change how i feel. i like you, and yeah. you are a lot older than me, and we’ll probably get stared at, but… i don’t care if you don’t.❞
He grinned and put one of his large hands on hers, noticing the size difference as well. "I don't give a fuck what other people think about me," he grinned, "just what you think about me."
shiloh knew murderers, she broke bread with monsters and fiends who preyed on others. her ex was a murderer, lucas? he had an accident, some thing that shouldn’t have happened did, and she couldn’t hold it against him. pink crept up her face as her cheeks warmed. ❝feeling’s mutual, tough guy,❞ she admitted sheepishly. the blonde had developed quite a few feelings as they spent more time with each other. glancing him over she laughed softly, ❝i’m glad you did, i thought i felt some thing, but i also thought i was insane.❞
"I know I'm insane," he shook his head, "I know that you're way younger than...wait...feeling's mutual? You like me too?"
He didn't know how to take this.
"Kid...there are a lot better people out there..."
honey colored eyes watched the former mma fighter with a look of disbelief. so many thoughts were running through her head. the primary one being why? she was old enough to be his kid. figures that now she had a conscience. ❝ you’re serious? sorry this is just… kind’a a lot.❞
He knew there was a huge age difference. Lucas knew that she was old enough to be one of his daughters, yet he liked her. She was different than other girls who couldn't see past the fact that he had done a bad thing and ended up in a bad spot in his life. The word murderer had never been used as an accusation, nor, to his knowledge, had she ever called him this.
"I don't joke, not about stuff like this," he admitted as he sipped his drink, "I know it's a lot and I know that I had no right to tell you it...but I do know that I like you."
she wasn’t going to pretend she knew what you were talking about. however shiloh could only smile and nod for so long. ❝ what?❞
"C'mon kid," Lucas rubbed the back of his neck shyly, not looking up at the other woman but instead at the table in front of him. "Don't make me tell ya how I feel twice."
"Yeah. Said hardcore son of a bitch happens to be my father. Like father like fucking daughter"
She inhales sharply, blowing smoke out of her nose as she rolls her eyes
"You're gonna learn I ain't no fuckin' sweetheart, asshole. I ain't one of those girlie ass fucking bitches. I can out drink half the chicks I work with"
The smirk that over took his lips was light, but evident. "Well fuckin' put doll. I won't take you for granteed, promise. But I'm still gonna call you doll and sweetheart and probably, time and again, babe. It's in my fuckin' nature."
"It is because there ain't no civilization any fuckin' where. And I happen to have a phone but it died"
She spits, pulling a cigarette out of her bra along with a lighter
"Sweetheart? Psht. I'm anythin' but. You familiar with a man named Steve Austin, bub?"
"Steve Austin, I know Austin. He's a fuckin' wrestler but damn is he a hard core sunofabitch," Lucas chuckled. Seeing her light up a cigarette made him want a smoke and he produced a cigar from his pocket. "Still a sweetheart in my book."

"Scout," Lucas grinned as he saw his boss. He stood, crossing from the counter over to her, "How ya been? It's been a few days, sorry about that."
(open)
"Man, I fuckin' hate that ballroom dancin' shit. Your a man, man up and act like one," Lucas snorted as he lit his cigaratte.
"No need to apologize. I’m used to pain and horror"
She shrugs her shoulders, giving a slight roll of her eyes
"That’s very true. I guess I just feel selfish comparing my pain to others. Everyone has their own pain and horrors"
"Pain and horror sounds pretty much like my life story," Lucas snorted as he leaned back against the wall.
"Kid? I…I’m sorry. I don’t like being called that. My uncle called me that all the time…"
She sighs, biting her lip
"I went through horror and drama. But I don’t like comparing that to the pain of others"
"Sorry."
That wasn't a word that left Lucas' lips often so the girl should have been honored that he would even bother to say it to her.
"No, I can understand that. Each man walks his own horror story, right?"
"Well…I don’t think what I’ve gone through is as bad as what you have by the sounds of that"
"It's bad either way you look at it, kid," Lucas shrugged, "I couldn't go through what you do."
scout didn’t have certain luxuries other kids had growing up, and by contrast she also had experiences that not a lot of other kids had. this caused her to be more career oriented. however baking was her passion, so at least she was doing something she thoroughly enjoyed. lucas’s cologne was his biggest indicator, and it wafted into the bakery she smirked slightly. his response didn’t catch her as off guard as it normally would have. ❝ well i could always use company while closing, so… that works too.❞ grabbing some of the trays she put them in the back motioning for lucas to follow her lead. ❝ so how do you like the job thus far, easy enough, right? ❞
Lucas rubbed the back of his neck and smiled, "Well, I can provide you with company. It'll be fun."
He quickly followed her lead, having always been one to follow examples than it was to start on his own.
"I like it. Heavy lifting keeps me in shape and the driving keeps my mind in tone."

"What?!" Ayumi groaned, a hand smacking her forehead in frustration. “Please do! I need to pick something up for my pups and I’m in town for a show! I’ll give you vip passes if you help me!”
"VIP Passes? Dunno what kinda music you do kid but I'm sure it ain't somethin' I listen to. Keep yer passes," Lucas gave a shrug, "I'll show you for free."
another day had come and gone, and it was ending the second week of the former mma fighter’s employment. they surprisingly got along well, which she figured was impossible considering how badly she’d gotten off on the wrong foot with him at the end of their conversation the first time they’d met. hearing the truck pull into the garage she rose a brow, that was… faster than she’d expected. the store closed in a half hour and she was all ready working on closing things down. as he entered the shop she smiled a bit, “you’re all set, luke. don’t have to stay here unless you want to.”
Lucas had never really felt like he belonged anywhere since getting out of prison. There were a few people here and there he cherished spending time with. His children, two girls, were two of them, as were his siblings. However, Scout was different.
Unlike most girls her age, she didn't seem interested in the same things. She was an entrepenuer who kept him busy most of the time, not allowing himself to fall back on his thoughts.
And when he did fall back on his thoughts, they were of her for some odd reason.
"Nah, I don't have anything better to do Scout. I can help you out here."
