So remember how Red Daughter loved the Great Gatsby because of the romance (which happens to be very similar to Supercorps)? I just saw someone on Twitter point out that canonically Titanic is Lena’s favorite movie. And Titanic is about a millionaire woman oppressed by her family and falls in love with someone her family would never approve of....I’m drawing parallels here

Thought I’d just compile my final reviews for She-Ra into one post for those that were asking and curious. 

5x08 - Funny and adorable seeing the group and Catra working on herself. When she sliced and kicked open that door, Adora’s blushing was hilarious. Thirsty much? 😂

5x09 - Wrong Hordak winking is everything.

5x10 - Catra getting sprayed with water 💀😂 Also her being told to keep her heart open and be vulnerable as it’s not weakness and it’s worth it, then she looks at Adora. That’s such a parallel with Brainy telling Lena roughly the same thing in late S4 then she ran to Kara. 👀

5x11 - Interesting themes… the whole disconnecting from a network that’s controlling people thing. Ahem.

5x12 - “She doesn’t want me! Not like I want her…” Oop. 👀

5x13 - There being a big hope speech to everybody watching a VR type projection. Interesting. Ahem. Anyway, Shadow Weaver’s redemptive sacrifice was great. THE KISS!!! Love that in the end Adora saved the day and got the girl. 😌

Overall, so fantastic. Such great messaging. I’m currently in my feels.

In closing… I want my own Melog.

This poster is dope, but I wish they’d look at the panels in the background… because I want to see THAT Kara again. Deep, powerful Kara with anger issues and traumas who overcomes it all to be a symbol of hope. 

Alternatively, I have to wonder if this is some sort of clue about next season’s storyline or just something completely random they put behind her? Because those images are from Supergirl #28: 

“Marc Andreyko and artist Eduardo Pansica bring Supergirl face-to-face with herself. Or more accurately, an army of deranged Supergirl clones who are out to kill her. Regardless, Kara has befriended the Omega Men and she has allies in this fight. But the bad news is that Supergirl’s powers are depleted, and she may have to rely on Zaar’s ax to survive. However, the ax feeds on Supergirl’s grief and anger. Now, Kara may also lose herself to the ax even if she makes it through her latest trial.”

Obviously I really dig the ‘axe feeding on her grief and anger’ bit and would LOVE to see something like that explored next year. 

But who am I kidding, it’s probably just random. 😂

Supergirl used to be awesome, now it has a ton of problems and queerbaits its audience. But the actresses are all amazing and some of the actors too.

I'd like to see an ep where Kara is deathly ill and Lena/Alex/Eliza team up to figure it out. Cue stories about Kara as a kid giving Lena new insight. Also, angsty Kara is dying moments. Googling, I came up with a fungus from Krypton called Bloodmorel which causes fever, hallucinations, sporadic loss of powers and eventually death from overexertion. Kara can hallucinate about being on Krypton and her survivor guilt, The cure? A kiss from Lena calms her down and brings her back to reality. :-)

Love it. 

But “death from overexertion”?

Cue Kara jumping up to go save the day (and/or Lena) despite being gravely ill, and despite the risk. And there’s us and Lena, watching Kara fight on anyway, full on grit mode (vs Reign style), despite weakened powers, despite intermittent hallucinations. In the end she barely wins, but she’s also seemingly too far gone. She collapses slowly to her knees and her world becomes a spinning haze of past and present. She’s lost, she’s dying. But Lena’s there to hold her and keep her clinging to this side of life so she can hold on a little longer - as Alex and Eliza arrive just in time with the cure. 

There. 

We just broke an action-packed, dramatic, emotional, powerful episode concept in five seconds, with a cool connection to the comics no less. 

SG writers... you’re up.

How did… how did we miss this one?

She literally picks up a WHITE KNIGHT after calling Kara her hero. So Kara is her white knight (yet another classic romantic trope).
