um. apologies everyone, the situation is Still Going but i was really looking forward to this event and the idea of not doing anything with it at all is making me sick.

there is absolutely going to be a full month for 2026, and the revised prompt list will be released ehhh pretty soon. only reason it won't be right now, is because i swiped a week for—

It's no month-long marathon, but these were a couple of my favorite prompts </3. Filling the week by January 3 gets you a completionist for this (hopefully one-off) week event!

hello! this event seems very interesting! i just had two questions, if you don't mind:

is this an event for writing only, or can we create other types of fanworks (fanart, songs, gif sets, etc.)?

is this event for fan content only, or can we use your prompts to write stuff about our ocs? (both fandom ocs and completely original characters/stories)

You are free to use any medium you like! Fanart, songs, gifsets, etc. included. If you want to record a skit or take a picture of a more physical work, those are also more than welcome! I suppose if any visual medium were to use flashing lights or cause drag on phones it ought to be tagged and/or auto-paused also, so I guess that will go on the updated rules list.

This event is not restricted to fan work! Actually, it's not even restricted to fiction, although that one may be a step more difficult given some of the prompts we'll be using this year 😅

I love the concept for this event! Looking forward to it!

I'll think of some prompt suggestions and send them in in the next couple days or so, but I do have a question: are ghosts and the undead included in the theme? What about cycles of death and rebirth, like perennial plants that "die back" (go dormant) for the winter?

^^ Absolutely! These are all wonderful explorations of the overall theme. A similar variation you can consider is immortality: a loss of mortality itself, something intrinsic to life. Being made immortal, are you really even alive anymore?

Welcome to Deathcember!

This event is themed around death and loss (and associated topics). Fluffy fics before inevitable doom? Sure. Collecting your deceased nemesis' effects from the morgue? Yeah. Averted death when you'd finally made peace with it? Nice. The goriest, most disgusting, absolutely filthy, borderline(?) erotica death scene you've ever seen? Classic.
