Liu fiddled with his rosary as he approached his brother. He looked uncharacteristically nervous as he glanced around, his scarf wrapped around tightly around his neck as a cover. Honestly, he often felt very happy and confident about his survival. Today, however, he couldn't silence the negative thoughts in his head and wanted a little bit of reassurance and attention from the only person left in his life.
He coughed into his elbow before giving Jeff a tense, tight smile. "Hello, dude. Can I ask you something dark and bad? Or should I just skip today's Bad Emotions Hour and offer to go to a mission with you?" He swallowed roughly. Even the idea of seeking emotional support felt so wrong. Often, it was Liu listening and soothing everyone around him, not the other way around. "I've heard there were two thrill seekers nearby and maybe you'd like to shed some blood together."

"Liu. Dude. Do you still think you need permission to vent to me?"
Jeff plopped a heavy hand on his little brother's head, ruffling his hair with the flat of his palm. "I always got time for my favorite little brother."
Only little brother. But still.
He motioned to the sofa with a quick jab. "Pop a squat, little bro. Let Dr. Jeffy open his office hours- We have all day to go hunting after."
" --ugh... " jack can't help but grumble a little, holding a small, balled up piece of piece of cotton soaked in disinfectant in one hand, and trying to gently grab his 'patients' wounded arm, with the other. he's dealt with worse then squirming, but it's still as bit annoying, he'll admit. 🥩 " i'm trying to help you, c'mon. just let me clean it up a little, and bandage it, it'll only take a minute, i swear. " he says, voice steady, calm, " ...please? " he adds, softly, but still insistent, a hint of stress. 🥩
"Dude. It's just a four inch gash, I can stitch it on my own!"
Liar. The wound was definitely filthy and half-scabbed. But Jeff hated needles more than anything else- for good damn reason to him- and would rather drink Clorox than let this kidney-muncher help him.
"Just let me handle it man, I don't need you to play Doctor."
"If I'm being completely honest, the only person in the Mansion who is likely to get an actual present from Sandy Claws this year is probably Sally."
"Well, duh." He casually replied while cleaning his own knife with the sleeve of his coat. He'll wash his coat later. Right now, the cleanness of his blade mattered more than his sleeve's. He didn't want blood to dribble and drip all over the ground and leave a trail behind them. The younger brother squinted at the blade, checking for any speck he might've missed as he continued: "Life is nothing but a cycle that traps everyone and anything inside it. Things were also a cycle of bullshit before, just a different kind of bullshit."
The night's chilled air helped him to relax a little bit. Concluding that it was clean enough, Liu rolled his shoulders back as he placed his knife on his belt. "You too know living here is way better than whatever hell - hole that was our home. This place at least gives us a shred of independency and freedom that our parents never allowed for whatever reason."
Wanting to lighten up the mood, he gently nudged Jeff's side with his elbow with a smirk. "Also, come on, bro! Dont ruin a kid's fun! Everyone knows you hate Sally's tea parties only because she loves making you wear that red tutu, hehe." He teased his brother with a quiet giggle. "If it's embarrassing you so much, I can wear that tutu for your place next time!"
"Hey, come on man. I told you that in confidence."
He eyed the body with some admiration. The two of them had a decent system going. Overwhelm, confuse, strike, repeat. They made a good team, even if noone else believed it. But that was always kinda the case. Even before. Before the blood, and the fire, and the.. everything. Even when it was just them vs Mom. Them against the world. It was... good. Jeff himself had hoped that Liu might not end up like him, hoped maybe he could be normal. But he wouldn't change the little freak even if he could. They were together, after all.
That's all he needed.
Leaning on his little brother, Jeff pressed his elbow into the other's scalp for an awkward, angled noogie.
"We should try and get back. I think we've finally pocketed enough cash from these jobs for a Pizza Night."

He scoffed, reaching down to scratch the mangled cat between the ears. Beastly little thing, but as good a proxy as any of them. Not near as needy as Smiley, though. Which suited Jeff just as well.
"If we went after the kind of targets I'd like, we wouldn't be slumming it in some run-down Antebellum house."

HABIT knew all too much about stepping outside of the rules, being forced to play by them for as long as he got caught. He lost his touch with the big guy, on the run in a sense, hiding from the Operator and its grasp on him, having BROKEN their deal so long ago.
The demon stepped closer, flipping that hunting knife in its hand, playing with it without a single care in the world, catching it by the handle every time he tossed the weapon up into the air. However, it's eye's seemed to be focused right on Jeff, his smile turning more into a large smirk.

Free.
Now there was a loaded word.
Freedom meant a lot of different things. the ability to choose, the ability to life life without attachments. To go where one wanted, sure, to kill as one pleased.
But if freedom meant choices, what if he wanted to choose this? Why did so many assume the yoke of a proxy had to be forced?
With Slenderdork, he got to stay with Liu. He was able to keep his family together. He had shelter, protection, and even if the other proxies were a bunch of tools, it was.. kinda nice? To have community there? Man, it sounded so cheesey the more he thought on it.
Humans were social species, and, well.. he used to be one, anyway.
"You ain't wrong. I've had the temptation to bail more than once. Go on the run, get high, drink 'till I black out, kill whoever I want."
"But I got a lot riding on this gig, yanno? Stuff that ain't worth the hassle of pissing off tall dark and statc-y."
"Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay- Don’t you know I got it Made, made, made, made, made!"
"I was made to be a jerk! Feelings hurt! You want hate? I deal it first! I got it-"

A laugh ripped through HABIT at Jeffery's words, so he believed the same! How wonderful! The demon was pleased. It's purple glowing eye's stared right at him as a twisted smile plastered on his face, refusing to falter from the question. Was he not that recognizable? Did it really kill off ALL of Evan's friends? How traumatizing!

The demon's voice was harsh, scratchy and deep, yet his smile grew wider to show off sharp canines in Jeff's direction, as if a threat to further question how long it has been around. A clawed hand itched over the blade's handle that was tucked inside a holster at HABIT's belt, wanting a reason to pull it out and make this kid suffer.

It wasn't so much disrespect, as it was... apathy. Hands shoved into his hoodie pockets, the cold steel and warm leather together on his blade a strangely comforting sensation.
This guy felt twitchy, eager to hurt someone, eager for violence- the background radiation of his own existence turned up to eleven. Maybe he wanted to give the guy a reason to go at him- it could be fun, fighting another slasher for a while, maybe open a hole in his liver. Get some new wounds of his own. It had been a while since someone hurt him back. He could use the novelty.
"Workin' for the big guy ain't so bad. Place to sleep, good eats- he's a pain in the ass, sure. But it beats still being human." He began to fidget with his own blade, turning it like a baton in his fingers. "I'll take being stuck following orders over Death Row in SingSing any day of the week."

Jeff reclined to the wall, gaze flicking over the stranger with curiosity. The face seemed familiar, in the way a melody might remind someone of a song they couldn't recall the words to.

"You ever feel like this gig has become less like 'the fate of killers' to a day at the fucking office?" he mused, eyes rolling.
"Slendy sends us out hunting, we scrap with a couple poor unfortunate schmucks, pick up snacks and Ben's pills on the way home, and then it's back to babysitting Sally and trying to keep the house from collapsing."
Twirling his blade between deft and scar-addled fingers, Jeff felt each step sway about as they walked. It was.. disappointing, how domestic their lives had become.
Maybe Domestic wasn't the right word. Repetitive? Maybe. But it wasn't the adventure he had always expected.
"The complete lack of them. Intense emotions might seem like a curse, but that is just another intense emotion in and of itself. Anything is better than being hollow." There's disgust in his voice. He doesn't know how else to response to the idea.
"I dunno. On the real bad days, I can;t tell the difference between too much and not enough. Absence and overwhelming abundance can feel way too similar sometimes."
