Yesterday was a perfect example of why I don't trust people. A user by the name of Audry35 had "commissioned" me for two pet portraits. I thought that it was nice, that somebody would want a drawing from me, I'm ngl. It made me feel good that somebody would think my work was worth money. However, the interaction was sketch, and they ended up trying to scam me with fake emails threatening to have me arrested for not "refunding" $160 that they had to "pay" in order for me to receive the $40 for the two drawings. First, the email came from a sketchy email address, with improper grammar; an email which essentially made no sense. And second, how dare you try to scam a (literal) starving artist?? Have you no shame? (No, the answer is no; scammers have no shame) They have since been blocked and the email erased, but if anybody ever gets a "commission" from this person, do yourselves a favor - do not engage, block and report. And remember, if it walks, talks and act like a duck...it's a duck.
Been making drawings recently and people have told me I should do commissions....true or nah?

IF YOUR ANCESTORS OWNED SLAVES, YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CRIMES.
How could you be? You weren't even there! You could not control them, you cannot change the past. For this, you are not at fault.
However.
IF you refuse to acknowledge the past, if you continuously dismiss the past, by denying that slavery has happened, because you do not want to confront the uncomfortable feelings associated with it; if you choose to remain ignorant to protect your ego and continue to echo misinformation such as "racism no longer exist" - YOU ARE AT FAULT.
In order to get over the past, in order to heal and come together, you must educate yourselves and avoid the trap of blissful ignorance.
Even if your ancestors did not own slaves, guess what?
As a black woman, MINE DID.
How else do you all think black people came to be in America? Slave owners would often have their way with their slaves, that's probably what some people mean when they say "some slave owners were good to their slaves", i.e. had their way with them/fell in love with them.
I am aware of my history. I am aware that some of my ancestors were indeed slave owners, and had either fell in love with their slaves or had their way with them.
Ignorance, especially willful ignorance, does nothing but prepetrate the same cycle of hatred over and over, hurting anyone and everyone it can.
Your past does not define you, the actions you commit today, does.
TOGETHER,WE STAND.
DIVIDED, WE FALL.
So I was perusing reddit, doing my daily doom scroll, and I am honestly flabbergasted at the amount of people that are willing to burn the world around them, themselves included, all so they can spite people they don't like.
But, actually, im not surprised.
Hate, pride, jealousy and greed are some powerful emotions. And these emotions, unfortunately make it so easy to divide and conquer.
The government can tell the upper class that they are the cream of the crop. So it's easier for them to hate everybody who's not on their level.
The government tell the middle class they are better than lower class. That we should be so lucky to serve them with a smile and be beholden to their whims. Makes it easier for them to dehumanize us.
They split the lower class even further, by telling white people that black people blame them for slavery. That we are nothing but theives and savages, animals only fit to serve or be killed.
They tell us that white people are trying to take everything from us, even when that's not the case. We don't need them as allies, because they're jealous of our power.
They tell the lgbtq+ that heterosexuals hate them because they are devients and they tell heterosexuals that the lgbtq+ are jealous of them and they want to hurt them, because they are hurting the children.
All so we can fight amongst ourselves, killing some of us while tiring the rest of us out so that we are easier to push us like lambs to be slaughtered.
Yet, we have the internet at our finger tips. We can literally look up and research history. We can easily verify facts and see that atrocities like the holocaust and slavery have happened. That MK ULTRA was a thing, that was based on torture methods that America learned from Nazi scientists; that they used those tactics on their own people for their own research.
But, if they can get us to distrust science, if they can get us to distrust facts, get us to distrust ourselves...
Well then, its so much easier to divide us into smaller and smaller groups, so they can pick us off one by one.
And the scary part is that its working, it works time and time again.
While they convince us that we are tearing each other down, they simultaneously convince us that they care about us. That they have our back. They inject a sense of false pride in us, so that we can push against our own sense of critical thinking by telling us "you're not wrong, its THEM who are wrong".
Because who doesn't want to feel like they are right? To feel...JUSTIFIED in killing our neighbors who are jealous of what we have.
And what's even worse: THERE'S MORE THAN ENOUGH TO GO AROUND.
More than enough resources.
More than enough food.
More than enough medical treatment.
More than enough land, housing, MONEY.
Money in and of itself is not the root of all evil.
It's the LOVE of money, that is the root of all evil. And boy, do the 1% LOVE. THEIR. MONEY.
(Make no mistake, either, whether you are well off, or dirt poor, we are ALL good for nothing, except to serve the 1%. You. Me. Everyone.)
After all I've been going through, I am stoked about the fact that as a corrupt billionaire, 34x convicted felon tries to take over the oval office, a bright and intelligent young man, who comes from wealth, but not ignorant of the fact that insurance companies are the among the most predatory establishments in America today, has decided to deny safety to those who profit off the tragedies of those in need, defend our rights to be treated as human beings, and depose of rotten sociopatihic leeches like Brian Thompson.
