In another lifetime
This is so fucking hilarious that Hawks' takeaway from the entire Todo-FAM drama is that there should be more prizes given, so people with fragile egos don't feel left out. This is the brave new world. Domestic abuse is solved.
My project to have done by Christmas is to draw one fucking page of Tomura slamming shut a manga volume and looking at Deku who cowrote the manga with Spinner and saying “why did you kill all of us” and then we see Toga call Deku rude for doing that
The ending will be fixed, in my head, at least
I can't believe that the silly, crack-ish dream I had last night about 429 leaks was more tolerable than whatever Hori delivered this chapter.
The dream went something like this
Bnha 429: The moral of the story is that you have to be a good victim. When someone reaches out their hand to help you, you need to stifle your anger and actually take it and whatever else you can get. You need to make your rage and mental illness and feelings of injustice palatable for others for you to be worthy of saving. Be a pleasant, agreeable victim.
"If I'd known her when we were children, would things have been different??”
That's a really sweet sentiment, Ochako, but it doesn't fix the systemic issues that contributed to Toga turning to villainy: quirk discrimination and hierarchies, being ostracized by society, her family not accepting her, etc. You can't love someone out of their societal issues. You have to change how society treats "bad" victims.
we did it, we solved hero society! - bnha 429
I've been reading this manga for 6 years now, and League of Villains has become something special to me. The only thing I'm thankful to Horikoshi for is them.
AMAZING HOW I AVOIDED BNHA FOR YEARS BECAUSE OF THE SHEER NEGATIVITY AND CONTROVERSIES SURROUNDING THIS SERIES. THEN I GOT INTO BNHA TWO YEARS AGO AND WAS LIKE "It's not as bad as antis are making it out to be. If you avoid the shipping wars and weird opinions you might actually get to enjoy the story. I kinda feel bad about all those who left this fandom tho. They missed out on some great content." Even with the disappointment of recent chapters, I still held out hope that Maybe Just Maybe Everything Would Turn Out Fine. Stop Being All Paranoid And Negative. Today's chapter however proved me wrong. THOSE ANTIS AND CRITICS WERE REALLY ONTO SOMETHING BECAUSE WOW WTF IS THIS.
for all afo's very thought out and intentional villainy, the fact his motivation is his (very screwed up) love of his twin does in fact prove the idea of BNHA that there isn't just "evil for evil's sake", even with someone who tried to ascribe to that notion. It's very fitting that the main villain's motivation was the one that tends to cast everything in extremes and drive people to do impossible, incredible, and horrific things; love.
DABI x HAWKS x TOMURA ✩ S7E1
You know, when I see fictional characters who repress all their emotions, they're usually aloof and very blunt about keeping people at a distance, sometimes to an edgy degree—but what I don't see nearly enough are the emotionally repressed characters who are just…mellow.
Think about it. In real life, the person that's bottling up all their emotions is not the one that's brooding in the corner and snaps at you for trying to befriend them. More often than not, it's that friendly person in your circle who makes easy conversation with you, laughs with you, and listens and gives advice whenever you're upset. But you never see them upset, in fact they seem to have endless patience for you and everything around them—and so you call them their friend, you trust them. And only after months of telling them all your secrets do you realize…
…they've never actually told you anything about themselves.

Toga: Every night I have a dream where a red sparrow enters my body, and I can feel it dancing around inside me.
Hori: Ochako and Hawks will become lights of hope in the final arc
🤔
More thoughts:
Himiko’s monologue is rather intentionally structured just like Jin’s final monologue, which is all the more reason to subvert expectations (and ideally, get Hawks involved as someone who will donate his blood to “save the new generation”). Jin’s death was Keigo’s biggest failure— keeping in line with heroaca’s themes, “it’s not something he can be forgiven for, but it’s something he can atone for.” Saving Himiko, Jin’s most precious person, is the first step in that direction— especially considering that his kneejerk reaction to Togawice at the start of the arc was to demand that she be killed as quickly as possible.
Himiko’s clone ultimately falls just short of killing Keigo. Keigo stands with his arms braced at his side, as if he’s fully prepared to let her kill him. He acknowledges, however indirectly, that her grief/actions are being driven by the loss of Jin. I feel like this sequence is more important than folks are giving it credit for.
Both Himiko and Keigo are driven by their desire to be free. Both characters have that desire represented by birds/wings/etc etc etc. Both of them feel like there’s no escaping from their respective cages. Keigo constantly praises others for their capacity for change and ability to “start fresh”, but doesn’t feel that he himself is capable of change. Himiko still doesn’t see a future for herself in a series that’s all about paving the way to a brighter future for everyone. We’re not done here.
Love how Hawks just appeared for a maximum of about two panels just to look pathetic and say something absolutely insane that would make anyone go “WTF?!”
this fandom doesn't get dabi tbh. Like outside of the aesthetic, if given half the chance, he would have become a workaholic to rival his dad. Like he'd complain about it more than Enji tho, but he'd still be out there working his ass off.
he's also just extra as fuck and needlessly dramatic in canon so idk where the "dabi is lazy and doesn't want to do shit" idea comes from. Like is the panel where he gets annoyed at the League not fresh in your minds??? Yeah, it's pointed out he's not GOOD at recruiting (understatement, he took in Hawks), but he's still like doing it a lot (and also doing so because he was trying to commit murders to rack up his killcount and such).
Like he outright *constantly* criticizes unambitious people or people he sees living with no purpose in life. HE EVEN DOES IT AT HIS OWN BROTHER LIKE -
he is so enji's son guys. why did this fandom decide dabi's some lazy slacker who just wants to kick back and do nothing and say fuck the man the dude burns people he thinks are useless and screams that his abused little brother doesn't act as motivated as HE WOULD be if he had been in his situation.
Y'all this is not the words of a dude who would be content sitting at home and doing nothing. please canon dabi is so interesting and fun, just incorporate him into your understanding of BNHA because the fact he's actually so driven and extra (and absolutely judgmental of people who aren't) is one of the most INTERESTING parts of him!!!!!
