I would have been perfectly fine without canon sheith. it is not that I wanted canon sheith necessarily. but their characters and development were butchered and now curtis was shoehorned in there in a way that makes it impossible to interpret differently. rushed and incomplete as well. and fix it fics only add to the pain. vld could have had a completely satisfactory ending without those epilogue cards. even with allura dying, bc we could have believed she’d be brought back. frankly this sucks

I am with you 100%.  There was a lot of weird trash in S8 but the epilogue cards made it so 1) Allura stays dead and 2) Shiro is reduced to token rep.  God.  And to think--they were SO CLOSE to having a fantastic show.

I feel like the sheith interactions in s8 would not have been so devastating if they did not already have a solid foundation. keith was the person shiro took to the kerberos launch; his most important person after his breakup and the one that he wanted to spend his last day on Earth with. what changed? it sucks that we are expected to buy that s8 sheith is the norm when we have been given indications time and time again that it is not. they are closer than that. they love each other.

Seriously.  It was a huge part of the Voltron experience, not just a shipping thing!  They LOVED each other, and if people want it to be platonic I’m okay with that.  I’m NOT okay with pretending like it didn’t happen.  Seriously, just fuck DW.
