“I mean, why limit ourselves to two options, when we have a whole day of enjoyment together?” Zayn continued to tease as he felt Declan grow more flustered. His eyes turned to look out at where the red-headed god took them, blue eyes adjusting to the luscious place around them. “You really do have the best spots in mind, don’t you?” he hummed in approval, him squeezing the Demeter-incarnate’s hand. “It’s beautiful out here…”

             “  a  whole  day  .  .  .  ”  declan  trailed  off  .  the  thought  of  spending  a  whole  entire  day  with  zayn  already  had  him  mesmerized  .  he  was  glad  that  he  brought  the  zeus  reincarnate  to  such  a  beautiful  place  .  “  i’m  really  glad  you  like  it  ,  ”  the  red - head  cooes  as  he  turns  around  to  face  zayn  &  once  again  both  his  hands  make  their  way  to  the  male’s  hips  .  “  i  can  only  show  you  the  best  of  the  best  .  ”

Squeezing Declan’s hand reassuringly as the red-headed god stepped away, Zayn followed after him, lacing their fingers together and stepping close so that his chest brushed against the other’s back. “Private would be nice. Why don’t we do something scenic first? There’s nothing saying that we can’t have both,” he chuckled, leaning in to nip at the god of the harvest’s ear. “Lead the way, Declan.”

              the  smile  that  seemed  to  fill  declan’s  lips  was  like  that  of  a  school  boy  ;  it  was  as  if  he  was  sixteen  again  ,  taking  his  high  school  crush  behind  the  bleachers  .  this  time  around  he  was  leading  along  a  KING  &  into  the  luscious  forest  nonetheless  .  “  both  h - huh  ?  ”  he  managed  to  stutter  out  just  as  zayn  began  to  nip  at  his  ear  .  declan  could  feel  himself  growing  more  &  more  flustered  .  “  i  know  just  the  place  to  go  for  this  .  ”  his  mind  automatically  thought  about  the  place  where  he  had  met  peter  &  where  all  the  flowers  had  bloomed  .  it  wasn’t  the  best  spot  in  declan’s  memories  ,  but  that  was  all  going  to  change  hopefully  .

      “  don’t  overthink  it,  declan,  ”   he  said,  holding  his  hand.   “   well,  i  am  the  waves,  and  i  like  you,  so  i  think  you  will  be  fine,  ”   he  chuckled.    “   as  long  as  you  trust  me,  then  we  should  be  good.  ”   he  responded.    eyes  were  still  on  the  other,  watching  him  carefully  as  they  walked  in  the  water.     “   yes.   we  are  going  to  go  in  there,  where  the  water  is  up  to  our  waist,  alright ??  ”  

             “  the  waves  like  moana  too  but  they  didn’t  favor  her  all  the  time  ,  ”  the  red - head  mumbled  under  his  breath  .  as  the  pair  of  them  walked  closer  &  closer  to  the  water  declan  began  to  start  to  panic  more  &  more  .  “  i  don’t  know  about  this  preston  .  there’s  so  much  water  .  plants  drown  if  you  over - water  them  ,  ”  his  words  at  this  point  are  spilling  from  his  lips  way  too  quick  .  “  the  w - waist  ?  if  i  slip  &  fall  i’ll  be  under  the  water  completely  then  .  -------  i  can’t  do  this  .  ”

Arvin listened to the ginger, finding himself smirking softly. “I personally think being the plant guy isn’t a bad thing.. you know. Everyone has their place and well, you know a lot about plants, you can communicate with nature.. I think this is pretty badass… you can summon big ass plants. So the plant guy is definitely a cool role.” The hunter got to his feet. “But what will my role be if you also become an amazing hunter?” He cleared his throat some. “So.. you want to learn to hunt even though you don’t even eat meat? Our.. reputation shouldn’t matter.. like, you shouldn’t think about what you will be known for. You’re still alive and I think youre doing a good job so far.. and I think making clothes, out of fur is a hell lot of work.. especially here on a tropical island, fur or leather clothes don’t seem too nice.” He thought for a moment. “I think preparing leather or furs.. actually takes weeks and we don’t even have the right chemicals..”

             it  seemed  that  with  arvin’s  sweet  words  that  declan’s  cheek  turned  an  even  darker  shade  of  red  .  he  was  caught  off  ,  almost  at  a  loss  for  words  ,  “  i  .  .  .  i  guess  so  ?  plants  are  just  so  weak  &  feeble  for  the  most  part  so  i  just  -------  i  don’t  know  .  ”  he  wasn’t  too  sure  where  he  was  going  with  that  sentence  which  is  why  he  trailed  off  .  the  thought  that  he  wasn’t  just  ‘  the  plant  guy  ’  was  really  nice  .  “  i  would  never  be  an  amazin’  hunter  ,  i’m  a  vegetarian  --  i  don’t  think  killing  animals  is  a  very  good  thing  ta  do  .  that  was  my  mom’s  job  .  ”  declan  nodded  his  head  to  what  arvin  was  saying  about  making  fur  clothes  in  this  type  of  weather  ,  he  wasn’t  wrong  in  the  slightest  .  “  i  honestly  didn’  even  think  ‘bout  the  weather  &  how  hot  it  would  be  ta  wear  fur  ,  ”  the  male  mumbled  .  “  what  else  can  we  use  animal  fur  for  ,  other  than  clothes  ?  ”

Knowing the camp was safe, and letting that sink into his mind where two very different things; especially with the amount of wandering off happening and returning of injured group members. Turning to the voice greeting him, Hayden found a soft smile forming for Declan; the red headed dream that should have been more noticeable in the group and yet Hayden honestly hadn’t taken much notice of much outside very obvious weaknesses in their camp. “That’s my fault.” Hayden sighs as he shakes his head and shrugs. “I’ve been so wrapped up in a survival mindset, it’s like the world almost past me by.” He hums as he wonders almost what he’d been doing over the weeks, but the camps state was evident of his work. “I suppose I’m alright; probably a little highs strung if anything.” The blacksmith scratches the back of his head a little embarrassed by his lack of meaningful interaction with the group. “How’ve you been?” Hayden asks Declan, hoping the red head was doing alright everything considered.

             the  moment  that  hayden  started  saying  it  was  his  fault  ,  declan  was  shaking  his  head  &  was  quick  to  reassure  him  once  he  was  done  talking  .  “  no  ,  no  ,  no  .  i  don’t  think  that  it’s  ya’re  fault  or  anythin’  .  it  was  a  big  change  for  all  of  us  .  like  ----  ”  he  points  to  his  beard  ,  “  i’ve  never  been  this  hairy  before  in  my  life  .  i  feel  like  bigfoot  walkin’  ‘roun’  like  this  .  ”  a  chuckle  chases  his  words  as  he  smiles  wide  at  hayden  .  “  i’ve  been  doin’  good  for  the  most  part  !  ”  emphasis  on  the  most  part  seeing  as  declan  had  ran  into  his  rival  god  a  while  back  .  but  he  didn’t  want  to  burden  the  other  male  with  that  kind  of  information  .

    the vessel of athena couldn’t help but grin, seeing the blush starting on the redheads cheeks, it made him look even cuter than normal and that was saying something. “oh yeah, you’ve gotta be loving it here, you’re really in your element?” atures chuckled, gesturing around them at the nature. “don’t get me wrong, i would much rather be in a library, but i like it here, it’s kinda calming in a way, you know? but yeah, i’m down for exploring, or anything else you wanna do!”

             “  i  really  am  .  it’s  no  farm  or  anythin’  like  that  ,  but  it’s  definitely  luscious  &  green  &  i  love  it  here  ,  ”  he  paused  for  a  short  moment  ,  thinking  about  at  the  fights  the  young  gods  had  been  on  so  far  .  “  a  library  ----  have  ya  always  got  a  thing  for  books  atreus  ?  ‘cause  if  that’s  the  case  ya’re  prolly  like  a  jack  of  all  trades  kinda  guy  .  ”  without  thinking  about  it  ,  his  hand  goes  up  to  scratch  his  unkempt  beard  ,  “  explorin’  would  be  nice  .  we  could  see  if  we  can  find  a  hot  springs  or  somethin’  ?  ”

His brows raised a little as he felt Declan’s hands moving down to his hips. Following suit, the thunder god wrapped one arm around the red-haired man’s hips, pulling him in closer so their chests were touching. “I think I have a good idea about the weight of my words,” he whispered, before leaning in to kiss the other god gently on the lips. After a moment, Zayn broke to give Declan a little chuckle and nibble on his bottom lip. “When you ask me like that, how could I say no? Come take care of me then, Declan.”

             zayn  had  always  been  able  to  make  declan  feel  some  kind  of  way  ;  like  maybe  becoming  a  god  wasn’t  all  that  bad  in  the  end  .  he  could  definitely  get  used  to  catering  to  everything  his  king  wanted  .  “  i  can  do  that  ,  ”  declan  said  ,  his  voice  low  as  his  tongue  darts  out  to  wet  his  bottom  lip  ,  “  perhaps  i  can  take  care  of  you  somewhere  a  little  more  private  .  ”  the  red - head  took  a  step  back  from  zayn  ,  holding  his  hand  as  he  did  .  “  the  real  question  is  do  you  prefer  somewhere  more  scenic  or  someone  more  comfortable  ?  ”

“Do you really want to risk me accidentally burning our food or poisoning the guys?” He joked lightly, crimson hues sparkling with amusement while sheathing Harbinger and then messing Declan’s hair playfully. “I’ll take the exploring though… Where to, oh mighty lord of the Harvest?” There was a relaxed smile on his face along with a thin layer of sweat thanks to the training.

             it  was  huge  stress  relief  to  see  how  relaxed  hawk  seemed  to  be  ;  whether  he  was  faking  it  or  not  he  was  doing  a  good  job  of  distracting  declan  .  “  i  don’t  think  that  ya  would  do  anythin’  like  that  ,  even  on  accident  ,  ”  he  chuckled  as  the  male  messed with  his  hair  .  “  i  don’t  wanna  stray  too  far  from  camp  now  ,  so  jus’  around  ?  we  can  call  fives  &  beck  ta  help  along  with  venus  &  pitcher  ---  might  as  well  have  a  play date  haha  .  ”

   hearing the voice of his shelter mate, the athena incarnate glanced up from his armour, which he was cleaning. “decky, hi, baby.” atreus greeted the redhead with a grin, sitting the armour down and giving the other his full attention. “oh you know, hanging around camp, ventured out and found myself a pretty nice tanning spot. what about you? what have you been up to? we haven’t really had the chance to see other much, other than missions.”

             it  was  almost  as  if  it  was  an  instinct  ,  but  the  instant  that  atreus  called  declan  ‘  baby  ’  the  young  god  could  feel  his  cheeks  starting  to  heat  up  .  he  lived  for  pet  names  .  “  i’ve  been  hangin’  ‘roun’  too  ,  studyin’  lots  of  the  plants  in  the  area  &  whatnot  .  it’s  really  pretty  here  ---  despite  all  the  ,  er  ,  fights  we’ve  been  on  &  all  that  .  did  ya  wanna  maybe  go  out  &  explore  a  bit  with  me  ?  ------  or  we  could  do  somethin’  else  if  ya  want  .  ”

There was a warm flush to his cheeks as he watched Declan lift his hand to kiss the back of it. Zayn cleared his throat, only stepping closer to the red-headed god so that their chests were touching. There was a burning heat from deep within, mixed with the sweat and the heat of the island swirling around them. “Then stay with me. Don’t leave my side,” Zayn whispered softly, gently raising a hand to cup Declan’s chin so they could properly peer into each other’s eyes. “Would you like for me to stay with you and care for you in private?” he hummed, a warm smile on his lips.

             the  moment  the  two  were  even  closer  to  one  another  ,  declan  had  to  take  a  second  to  steady  his  breath  due  to  the  way  zayn  got  his  heart  racing  .  “  careful  ,  my  king  ,  you  don’t  know  the  weight  those  words  carry  ,  ”  he  teased  as  an  almost - smirk  appeared  on  his  face  .  the  two  of  them  had  flirted  many  times  &  also  shared  a  kiss  or  two  ,  but  it  was  safe  to  say  that  declan  was  definitely  holding  himself  back  .  “  care  for  me  ,  huh  ?  ”  he  says  with  a  soft  hum  to  follow  while  his  hands  moved  to  zayn’s  hips  ,  “  i  should  be  the  one  to  care  for  you  don’t  you  think  zayn  ?  ”

Had Arvin avoided Declan since their little sparring? Probably. But the way Declan had just defeated him so easily made big damage on his ego. He had assumed that he knew what he did, that he knew just how to handle his bow. That he was able to win a fight, if he chose to fight. But the way Declan just defeated him with ease… Other than leaving the plant by Declans door, Arvin hadn’t put much effort into actually getting to know the guy he would just refer to as the plant guy. Not nice to do but his way to deal with his cracked ego. So when he heard the males voice, he grimaced softly. “Hey.” He cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his neck. “Why do you need to know.. how to hunt?” Yes, he was the goddess of the hunt but here, he felt like he was doing not the best job. So far, since arriving at the tower, he didn’t feel like he was doing a good job and this was definitely feeling him some ways. 

             judging  by  arvin  rubbing  his  neck  &  his  question  that  quickly  followed  ,  declan  knew  that  he  was  going  to  have  to  elaborate  on  why  he  wanted  to  learn  how  to  hunt  all  of  a  sudden  .  “  oh  ---  i  ,  uhm  .  ”  he  stumbled  as  he  tried  to  think  of  the  words  to  say  ,  “  i  just  want  ta  be  multi - purposeful  i  suppose  ?  i  just  feel  like  ‘  the  plant  guy  ’  .  to  be  honest  i’d  rather  be  known  more  than  that  .  ”  the  red - head’s  cheeks  seem  to  turn  to  a  faint  pink  as  he  continued  to  go  on  .  “  i  don’t  have  to  know  much  about  it  ,  just  .  .  .  enough  to  get  by  ?  maybe  we  could  go  huntin’  &  make  new  clothes  .  i  bet  we  could  all  use  somethin’  .  .  .  cleaner  .  ”

      he  turned  to  see  declan,  in  nothing  but  his  underwear.    a  soft  smile  spread  across  preston’s  lips  as  he  started  to  walk  back  towards  the  water.    “   well,   try  to  not  think  about  the  facts  of  the  ocean.   we  are  safe  here.   and  if  anything  i  could  just  make  sure  we’re  safe.   he  waved  his  hand  and  the  water  was  surrounding  him,  becoming  a  barrier  with  some  of  the  waves  coming  towards  him.    “  now  come  on,  let’s  do  this,  yea ??  ”   he  smiled,  hand  extended  to  the  other.    “  it  feels  nice  in  here.   perfect  temperature.  ”

             “  so  basically  what  you’re  trying  to  tell  me  is  don’t  think  at  all  ?  ”  declan  said  in  a  panic  .  that  was  a  lot  easier  said  than  done  ,  not  like  he’d  admit  that  out  loud  though  .  “  what  if  it’s  like  moana  &  the  waves  don’t  like  me  or  somethin’  ?  ”  every  worry  seemed  to  be  hitting  declan  at  once  ,  not  something  he  was  too  happy  about  though  .  “  we’re  just  .  .  .  gonna  hop  right  it  ?  ”  the  male  asked  ,  arching  a  brow  as  he  reached  out  to  take  preston’s  hand  .

Hawk was away from the camp, sparring with Fives and Beckendorf, testing out maneuvers in case he found himself in a two on one scenario when he heard Declan’s voice and motioned at his skeletons to back away. “Decky! Hey!” He greeted the other with a wide grin. “Of course! I’m all yours. Good training, guys.” He dismissed the skeletons with a not of his head and turned his attention to the red headed male. “So… What can I do for you, man?”

             hazel  eyes  watch  as  the  two  skeletons  back  away  from  declan  .  hawk  was  always  on  top  of  staying  active  &  ready  for  a  fight  -  at  least  to  declan  he  was  &  he  admired  him  for  that  .  “  i  was  just  wonderin’  if  ya  wanted  to  come  explorin’  with  me  ?  or  we  could  try  our  hand  at  somethin’  new  like  cookin’  ?  ”  to  be  honest  ,  declan  would  be  willing  to  do  anything  as  long  as  it  took  his  mind  off  things  .

             “  hey  hayden  ,  ”  declan  soothed  out  as  he  came  up  behind  the  male  ,  tapping  him  on  his  shoulder  before  coming  into  view  .  “  long  time  no  see  ,  ”  his  lips  seemed  to  melt  into  a  wide  dorky  smile  ,  “  how  have  you  been  ?  i  feel  like  i  haven’t  seen  you  in  weeks  .  ”  the  last  time  the  red - head  recalled  having  an  actual  conversation  with  hayden  was  a  long  while  ago  &  that  was  most  definitely  declan’s  fault  .

              despite  being  shelter  mates  ,  declan  felt  a  bit  bad  that  he  hasn’t  been  spending  a  good  amount  of  time  with  atreus  .  he  had  been  so  obsessed  with  all  the  nature  around  the  island  ;  then  there  was  meeting  his  rival  god  (  peter  )  &  that  alone  was  terrifying  in  it’s  own  way  .  luckily  atreus  had  gone  against  his  rival  god  ,  so  declan  felt  comfort  in  spending  the  day  with  him  .  “  so  ,  what  have  ya  been  doin’  ta  keep  busy  ?  ”

He beamed at the other’s words, only tugging on Declan’s hand so his friend would step closer to him. “You think so?” Zayn mused, tilting his head to the side with a teasing glimmer in his eyes. “You only have to ask, if that was what you wanted. I don’t remember when I had some proper time with you alone, and I don’t want to leave you wanting.”

             his  smile  is  soft  as  he  keeps  his  eyes  trained  on  zayn  ,  “  i  know  so  .  ”  a  small  step  forward  to  fill  a  bit  of  space  between  them  before  declan  brought  up  the  male’s  hand  to  kiss  the  back  of  it  .  “  any  alone  time  with  you  is  good  with  me  .  we  could  stay  here  like  this  for  hours  &  i’d  be  fine  .  ”  he  drops  his  voice  a  tad  lower  ,  “  i  just  crave  to  be  close  to  you  ,  zayn  .  ”
