THIS MAP TRACKS WHERE GOVERNMENTS HACK ACTIVISTS AND REPORTERS
IN AN AGE when spies carefully hide their tracks through layers of obfuscation and proxy servers, locating the perpetrators of online surveillance is often nearly impossible. But the victims of these spying campaigns can sometimes be easier to place. And one open-source initiative has set out to map cases where state-sponsored malware campaigns target members of civil society, in an effort to show how governments use digital intrusions to control and disrupt their enemies around the globe.

The disillusionment being inflicted on activists and journalists in anthropologically oppressed nations such as China, North Korea, United States, Syria, Ethiopia, etc may not come as a surprise to some, but this is the ideal time to question the ethics of your government and look deeper into the history of oppression that your government has been ironically concealing and spread the knowledge among us. However, this is not just about you or me. No matter where in the world you are, do not remain outspoken. Speak up against oppression, be the voice that your community, nation, and Earth needs.
