This is our final photo as a group.
This is what we were doing during presentation. Listening in on them, who were listening in on us
Final Presentation
Vibes
We worked well and efficiently today. it was Milan’s birthday and I wish him all the best. We made decisions quickly and made plans for our presentation with testing, I am satisfied with the work we did.
The first picture is the exterior of the installation, where the user will sit in the living room chair to listen in on living room conversations. We made a stand that would fit in a living room vibe. We also made a house to show where the sound is coming from as we want to be clear that it is coming from a house.
The second picture is our version of Alexa. It is a smarthome device to blend into the interiors at home
Day 10
Finally making the prototype.
Vibes
I am actually disappointed in a member of our group. He/she was late, unprofessional and it seemed like He/she had better things to do. We were uninformed of the whereabouts.of this person. It is unfair for us to be left in the dark despite being in a group. You can’t just appear at 5pm and expect a quick round up. I might have other things to do and places to be. I understand that sometimes, you can be friends with someone, but not work with them.
Second location: we got the outcome as desired. When asked about it with the people who used the installation, they were heading in the right head space in terms of asking the questions like who is speaking? where is it from? is it from the mentioned address. This location worked better as it seemed more out of place and it attracted attention.
Testing at first Location. Problems: people did not notice, that there was an installation, only a few did. It was kind of assumed to be an old chair. Without a sign, people did not understand what it was. After talking to some people, we needed to have a prompt to make the listener know of our installation and the question we want people to ask
Testing Day
Today we will go to the location and see if it works out. Our goal is to see if expectations meet reality.
We initially had an idea for a smart home intervention with the main focus on listening in. After speaking with a specialist we realized that the main aim is to impact the public and send the message as opposed to locate the house and hold accountability to the user. As a conclusion we decided to make a statement to impact through the installation. We wanted to place 3 chairs from 3 rooms in a house to show how various conversations take places in different places in the house.
Concepts This is a combination of concepts Elena mainly did and I added on it
Prototype
Our 4th Prototype was t make a speaker that allows sounds within the house to be played outside the house. Our 5th prototype was a game that allowed people to share truths about themselves attached to a lie detector.
Prototype 3: Water shaming This concept aims to brings to light the water and electricity consumption rate of each house. The numbers will be displayed on a screen in front of the house. The green color indicates that the consumption is okay and the orange indicates there is over consumption. This form of showing information in this manner is in hopes that we can enable people to be more conscious when using their utilities..
Prototype 2 : Killboard This keyboard concept aims to bring confusion and chaos into a person’s life. The keys control water, lights, heat, cooling, on each level. This keyboard will be placed outside the house and allows passers by to do as they wish to the inhabitants of the house.
Prototype 1: The isolation shelter
The concept aims at the user being able to control the amount of light being allowed to enter the place. The panels are opaque and translucent on either side. The user can choose to turn in inside or rotate the structure to suit their lighting needs based on their comfort
