zygarde in legends z-a in particular is a really fun, and i would argue, even subversive take on "ruthless protector of the environment" type entities, because, like. the well-traveled trope is that such an entity wouldn't trust humans, at least not at first, and would see them only as a threat to the ecosystem, needing to be dealt with by force if necessary. in fact, to drive home the prevalence of said trope, that's kind of what zygarde was initially like in the anime canon, and unsurprisingly, I think that's also what a lot of fans expected of it in z-a, based on posts I saw after just the first trailer! except, we finally see the actual game, and suddenly... not only does zygarde implicitly seem to care about protecting both pokemon and humans from catastrophe (wisely seeing humans as part of the environment, it would seem!), and not only does it want to partner with a human to protect lumiose, but it's actually so chill with humans that it sees one try to nuke the entire planet with intent of wiping out all pokemon and most humans, and instead of becoming jaded or enraged with humanity, zygarde just looks at lysandre, one of the worst humans on earth, and thinks, "okay but I could totally fix him though." and then it fucking fixes him! it does it! i honestly think zygarde loves humans. it's all zygarde's world but zygarde thinks it's just so neat that humans are living in it
