Hermit a Day May 21: Xisuma

Xisuma is the guildmaster of the Hermit Guild and a fairly well-known explorer who got his start as a rescuer back when the world’s balance was out of whack many years ago. He wasn’t involved in the events surrounding that, but he did become a member of Genny’s Hermit Rescuer’s Coalition. This was a group of many individual adventurers and rescuers who wished to share work and occasionally team up with each other without sacrificing their status as lone adventurers. The group was successful for a while and attracted some attention, but when the outbreak of natural disasters calmed down most of the people involved (including its founder, Genny) either went back to civilian life or disappeared for one reason or another. Those who remained seemed interested in continuing to work together but were unsure of how to do it. They parted ways, but during this time X caught wind of the formation of Wigglytuff’s guild from contacts on the Grass continent and decided that if he wanted this to continue he would have to step up and coordinate it. This led to him forming the Hermit guild, the first guild operating on the Air continent. It differed a bit from Wigglytuff’s model in that it did not operate as a distinct business or training program that took cuts from its members in order to fund its projects, but instead was more like a gathering place for recognized solo adventurers and teams to share information and jobs. Pokemon would pay to post jobs in the hermit guild primarily, hoping they would be picked up by the high-ranking rescuers that populated it. X also helped fund it using his own treasure and got help from his treasure hunting friends to keep up the guild hall. After a few years of success, X decided that he wanted to move to the Grass continent to establish a new branch of the guild. He entrusted the old guild to his good friend Biffa and took a good number of hermits with him to the Grass continent.
