Opposable thumbs are handy
Dahling you simply must read this book! Itâs all about this devious little caterpillar who simply gorges himself on all manner of divine things
One of my biggest pet peeves when discussing mouthwashing, specifically Curly mouthwashing, is people either
A. pretending that having emotional responses to harrowing situations is abnormal
or
B. claiming that curly shouldâve just (insert action that would either get him jailed, result in pony express docking the pay of himself and his employees, or would lead to him no longer having a co-pilot, which would force him to fly the ship the rest of the 8 month journey without assistance).
or both of these.
Curly isnât perfect and there are actions he could have taken, but people greatly overestimate his options. People also tend to forget that Curly had less than a day to figure something out, because his friend (who he knows is volatile!) has been informed that the woman he raped is pregnant. he wasnât sitting on this info for months, he fully didnât know what happened until a day before.
I shouldnât have to repeat myself but for the purposes of dispelling anyone trying to give a bad-faith interpretation of my curly takes: curly isnât a great person. heâs not a bad person (I donât think good or bad people exist, I think itâs reductive) but heâs deeply flawed in ways that hurt himself and others.
I need to make a full Curly analysis post because he fascinates me.
might delete later because itâs uglay. âŠhappy Motherâs Day featuring Peril and Scarlet.

digital circus is a cool show about the experience of existing in the child friendly panopticon of online spaces and forming very real relationships with people who don't necessarily have names and faces to you
it's also about how short people are the world's jesters
have any of the b-52s heard what sea creatures sound like. literally what the fuck were they doing at the end of rock lobster. manta rays do not sound like that
incredible subset of autistic/adhd person out there who thinks that âneurotypicalsâ donât have inner worlds/thoughts /interests
comments under a post about autistic hyper empathy. like you canât really believe that 80% of people donât wonder or care or think about anything can you
A thing that is maybe ultimately harmless but also kind of⊠not exactly a pet peeve but it just makes me feel iffy, is assuming if someone has somewhat unusual interest(s) that in and of itself is equivalent to an autism/ADHD diagnosis, so therefore someone who doesn't fall under that can't possibly be interested in anything outside of the normal.
like yes that is one of many possible symptoms, I myself am diagnosed with ADHD, but I dunno, I don't think I'd be a completely different person with zero likes/interests if I didn't have it. Neurotypical people have weird fascinations too. Just talk to a "normie" long enough. People don't need to be born a certain way and have an innate neurodevelopmental condition to be curious about the world around them. One of the most rewarding parts of education and science communication is finding ways to reawaken curiosity in a wide range of different people, something everyone had as kids but some of us have been conditioned to ignore.
