The Nightbrothers - confessing their feelings to you
Includes: Maul, Savage, Icarus, Scorn, Feral
Note: In general I don’t see these guys as the healthiest, emotionally mature boyfriends :^) If they like you, you’re gonna know it for sure but mostly through their actions long before words.
Would not have a huge problem confessing, but still would not do it directly at first. Slowly starts acting possessive and unusually attentive long before saying anything.
Suspiciously close with everyone you know, interacting with them more freely than he does with you. If he does interact with you, it’s usually intense arguments, probing questions, conversations that somehow always turn into debates about morality or values.
Tends to escalate into him snapping something like:
“You have to let go of your past in order to see what’s right in front of you.”
And what he really means is that he’s frustrated you can’t see that he wants you, because of everything you already know about him and his reputation.
It most likely slips out during an argument:
“You think I would tolerate this from anyone else?”
Or he admits it quietly after a vulnerable moment, irritated at himself for feeling it at all. And after the slip, things don’t get easier, if anything, he seems even more controlled and distant. Suddenly he is hyper fixated on a new quest chasing some new ambition, leaving you feeling a little bit neglected. In reality you never really leave his mind, he simply just put you on standby. Subconsciously or not, he really needs that space to be able to truly feel free and fulfilled.
And when it comes to you, things slightly change too. He overanalyzes everything you do or say, especially if you show affection. He becomes kind of suspicious of it.
In his mind, he initiated the vulnerability, so now there’s a debt that can’t be repaid cleanly. You saying “I like you too” doesn’t fix it. It just makes him more aware that the feelings exist at all.
So being with him is really not for the weak. Might easily turn into this push-and-pull situation. He pulls away physically; less vulnerability, less presence, while becoming more intense in indirect ways. Watches you more closely, gets more protective, reacts faster to anything that could threaten you. Because now that his feelings have been verbalized, in his mind you belong to him in some way, and that means he has to protect you.
The most straightforward emotionally. Awkward, honest…and impulsive lol
“You don’t know what you’re doing to me.”
Very aggressive about it too. The type to show up outside your house at 3am on impulse because he “had to see you.” Doesn’t even realize how insane that sounds until after he says it.
Supports this with actions too; protecting you constantly, staying close, touching your shoulder or waist more and more until it becomes super obvious. Lowkey already acts like he’s your boyfriend anyway, especially in front of other people. Veryyyy territorial. If someone starts talking to you, his hand somehow magically finds its way to your waist every single time.
But then later he acts dumb about it like:
Only to have a complete breakdown if you call him a friend too.
Basically, messing around with Savage instantly traps you inside his perfect little bubble where he’s already claimed you and fully expects you to just follow his lead. It just feels natural to him. Like of course you’re staying close to him. Of course he’s protecting you. Of course everyone else knows to back off.
You better be ready for that first kiss, cause it’s probably how he accidentally confesses too. No speech, no buildup, no warning. Just suddenly grabbing your waist and pulling you in for an extremely sloppy kiss. He physically cannot keep pretending he doesn’t want you anymore.
Avoids direct confession for as long as possible. Turns into teasing, weird tension, staring too long, getting quieter around you. Spends tons of time with you, somehow always finding a reason or a shared activity that forces both of you to stay up all night working on something “important.”
Lowkey feels like he would genuinely never confess, but he would absolutely claim you as his in every other way. Would not tolerate you sharing certain things with other people either. It becomes this weird unspoken rule where he almost expects you to read his mind all the time, and simply never cross him in a way that he would see as betrayal.
I have a feeling like you two would already be doing everything couples do. Having deep talks at 4am, crying together, laughing together, surviving horrible things together.
And I mean having sex too, without ever really addressing it or acknowledging what it really means T_T, though he would be extremely careful and communicative with you about boundaries, comfort, what you like, what you don’t. Super attentive in that way.
He just never addresses any of it emotionally. Never frames it as love, or attachment, or anything that would put him in a vulnerable position.
Eventually, maybe, some version of it slips out in the middle of the night when both of you are exhausted and alone:
“It was raining last night and it reminded me of you.”
And the second he says it, he kind of pulls away a bit. Immediately tries to act normal after, like he didn’t just expose himself emotionally.
So with him, you kinda have to trust your gut …and him. Open up completely without expecting him to mirror it back verbally, that’s just not who he is. He loves through presence, through loyalty, through always being there. But hearing something soft and direct from him? Rare. Almost painful for him to say.
Confesses accidentally through comfort and domestic intimacy rather than dramatic words.
Makes a lot of plans for the two of you to spend time together. Slowly most of those plans involve movie nights at his place.
You realize he cares about you because he starts treating you like you already belong there, making space for your things, remembering tiny details, pulling you into his side absentmindedly. Acts cool but really is super nervous around you too lol almost to the point where he becomes clumsy.
Over time, it becomes really easy to imagine just living there, because he’s already built half that life around you without ever calling it that. He’s the type to quietly start buying things you might need, not in a showy way, just… noticing, remembering, and preparing, like it’s obvious you’ll be there again.
If he says it directly, it’s low and casual:
“You’re always here in my head lately.”
Like he’s admitting to a problem he secretly enjoys.
In the end of the day he really does not mind saying it to you openly or being verbally soft in general, it’s just that he feels that he has to earn to say it, in a way. Like affection is something that should only be spoken once he’s already proven it through actions. First he takes care of you, makes sure you’re comfortable, safe, looked after, and only then does he allow himself to be openly gentle like that.
Kind of terrible at verbalizing feelings xD Gets visibly restless and territorial instead, though it somehow comes off softer than you’d expect from someone like that.
Would probably confess only after jealousy pushes him over the edge. But he coats it in neediness;
“I really don’t think you should go there… please stay”
Not even a proper confession, but the meaning is really obvious. His eyes are already glassy, almost pleading. It would turn into him begging for reassurance more than actually confessing anything clearly, he just needs to know you’re still there, still with him.
He can get a little volatile when it comes to emotions because he doesn’t really know how to handle them in a healthy way. But with you, there’s this strange softness that makes him melt. You’re his safety point, and whenever that feels threatened, he starts spiraling, overthinking everything, assuming the worst, needing constant confirmation that he didn’t ruin things.
He’ll hang up on you in a panic and call you back two minutes later to ask if you’re mad at him. He knows he’s messy with his words and reactions, and it genuinely makes him insecure. He’s very aware that he doesn’t express things “right,” and that awareness only makes him more anxious.
Sometimes you really do have to push him a little to get anything honest out of him, corner him with questions until he gives in and stops dodging. And he doesn’t even hate it actually. It reassures him in a way, like proof that you care enough to stay, even when he’s difficult, or when he’s not making much sense.
