It’s an interesting fact that many Ukrainian women would never leave her home if her neck wasn’t covered – they felt naked without their necklace. It was a part of daily dress-code and they wore it for all occasion from festivals, celebrations but even during work or average daily activities. Woman status was easily seen by the quality of her necklace. Necklaces were also amulets, protecting her from evil spirits and bad people.

My most recent burlesque act is a hip hop classic burlesque fan dance to Kanye West's MERCY. I worked in physical therapy and with Lola Van Ella for about six months for this act. I had horrible back injury I was/am healing from, my father was very ill, and things have been shaky. My costume and choreo is all by me. The day of everything that could have gone wrong did. I cried and worked for about four hours up till I was on stage. All of that pain and anxiety melted away when I walked onto the stage. The spirits possessed me and I danced as hard as I could. I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me through this journey. I love you all!! 😭💜🌙💐
