viktor's hand does not retract from jayce's face. honeyed ambers remained fixed on the defender's visage, noting every minute detail; lilac irises that gazed back at him, his full beard of hair lining his jaw, down to the smallest cuts on his lips. he's seen better days. the herald nearly forgets the sensation of holding him — a gesture that still feels wholly unfamiliar, being the the first to initiate.

“ i'm not sure. ” falls from his lips, brief silence broken by the sound of his voice. sentence unfinished, but viktor knows all too well the question that lingers on both their minds. one moment, oblivion's embrace felt close, the gaping maw of the abyss damn near ready to swallow them up &. guide them towards death's door. still, they remain. still, they live. digits flex slightly under jayce's hand, a part of him missing that touch, &. another ——— he just ... wants to make sure this is not some fabricated dream.

“ what you did was reckless, ” there is no bitterness in his tone. concern, perhaps. “ you could have died, jayce. ”

MOST OF HIM EXPECTS his once partner to retreat after that first touch. while the man before jayce is assertive in his own right, physicality never suited him. perhaps it had been a matter of preference, but some gnawing certainty tells him in the back of his mind that it had always been something else, something heavier, like his warped self-perception that led him down the dark path they had braved recently.

perhaps now he'd find himself at ease. hoping against hope, the defender still holds his cold hand against his cheek, bearded jaw against his palm.

"you forget you were condemning yourself to that fate. i just decided to come along, that's all." it ignores the fact that it meant they were simply agreeing on double suicide, of course, because it is easier than acknowledging the elephant in the room. “ jayce. ” hushed tone, steady hand coming up — hesitant in its approach, but finds itself holding the inventor's cheek. feather - light touch, digits gentle in their caress, far from unkind. the act of giving this to another, an alien sentiment altogether; still, viktor's palm stays there, amber hues locked on jayce's visage. “ ... are you all right? ”

the touch has the defender falter, remind him once more he has a body, that he still has life in him; gaze upon his once-partner, it takes him a moment to find the proper words, process that they haven't met their end in the vastness of the arcane. he can't help himself when he leans into the touch, gesture almost subconscious.

"well... we are alive, so i guess it counts as alright." the answer is delivered with a coy little laugh. it is true, too: at least when compared to the next option, he could definitely say it is alright. he had fully accepted oblivion when he remained by viktor's side. he had accepted that perhaps, he had done his part in guaranteeing a tomorrow at all. one of his hands hovers over the one on his cheek, then, as a reflex.

there is a pause, then, as he thumbs over the strange texture of viktor's knuckles. "how did we...?" survive.

full name: jayce martel of the ferros clan, previously from the giopara. known as: the defender / man of tomorrow, the paragon of progress, poster boy of piltover. from: the city of progress, piltover. suspects having immigrant origins, but he knows nothing of his birth family and has never sought out information on them. family: no known living relatives; jayce was left in a foundlings home in the entresol level of the city as a child and subsequently picked up by the clans when they heard of his considerable talent fixing and tinkering with things as young as 8. an orphaned prodigy, ready for the picking of the clans, with little ties to any parents who may object to their child being an asset rather than a person? there would be no way they would not see him as a golden goose.

this is a highly private writing blog that can be categorized as a roleplay blog. i'm mostly here to write with my friends and people i vibe with + post my personal meta on certain characters. i am a 28 year old chronically ill person from brazil with irl obligations so i may be scarce at times. i am not a fast writer nor a consistent one in terms of activity, given the nature of my illnesses.

about this blog in specific: as a long standing league fan (yeah, i know, unfortunate), i have been writing jayce years before the first season of arcane was released and as such, i feel it necessary to say this is not jayce talis. i am more than willing to adapt him to arcane's canon as i thoroughly enjoyed the show and it was partially responsible for this reboot but be aware he is not jayce talis and his reactions should not be assumed to be the same as his arcane counterpart even if i am all too willing to adapt him. never shy away to ask about anything about that, just pleasepleaseplease don't assume.

this blog will contain mature content of varying natures: violence, societal issues and exploration of trauma will be written plenty and jayce is, unfortunately, not unbiased or fair in his judgements as a character at times. that said, i am not my character and my character is not me, fiction and reality are separate entities. characters can often simply be narrative tools instead of reflections of their writer or their morality and you are more than allowed to disagree or react to his behavior accordingly. it will not be an offense to me as his writer.

i am liberal with the block button and i advise you to be as well. do not take it personally if i softblock you. i promise you i won't if you do either. minors and personals will be blocked on sight. if i don't see your age on your blog and i don't know you personally, i am also gonna block you. i softblock if you follow me and see our rules make us incompatible. i will hard block on second try. this is my personal creative space and i have no desire for drama.
