How To Restore Balance in YOUR LIFE: What Inspires YOU in 2015?
DYI has had the pleasure of working with Carol Gutzeit over the past few months, Founder of Satori Living. We’ve been learning about how to restore balance to our lives, and we wanted to share some with you!
Carol teaches how to restore balance: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and gives insight in to what could be blocking you from becoming balanced in those different areas of your life.
First things first in restoring balance to your life--focus on your Life Force Energy- Your Physical Body! Physical Balance starts with your body. Your body gets you up in the morning and takes you through your day, so you want to take care of it! It sounds so simple. We’ve heard it all before, but it really is that simple—Take Care of Your Body, and it Will Take Care of You. Here's how to start to take care of your body!
Get moving! The great thing is you can MOVE within YOUR fitness level. What inspires you to move? Listen to your body. Is your body feeling the need to take walks or runs outside? A strengthening barre class, a meditative yoga class, a high intensity cardio sweat session? Even just moving more frequently for shorter periods of time throughout the day can do a lot! We are not meant to be sedentary. (We think companies with standing desks are on to something!) Movement will get the blood flowing through your body, bring oxygen to your brain and increase your energy. Give your body the movement that it’s craving!
Feed your body with good nutrition. Again, your body is what gets you through the day. It makes a huge amount of sense to feed it with whole, nutritious foods that will keep you energized and feeling good throughout the day. DYI firmly believes that everybody has different nutritional needs and diets that work best for YOU. A quote we love to think about when focusing on our diet is “Progress, not perfection.” We are always working on eating better foods for our body and trying new things. We don’t fall off the wagon after eating something “bad” or become guilt stricken for not being perfect! What is perfect anyway if we are all different? Choose nutritious foods that are right for YOU and that make YOU feel good! (check back with us for nutritous recipes from guest chefs over the next month!)
Reduce Stress in YOUR life-- Carol teaches how to eliminate stress in her Online Program “30 days to a balanced life” (which we can’t recommend enough!) Stress is the block that causes the lack of energy flow in our bodies, causes “dis- ease” and tension. She gives such great techniques on how to face things that are happening in our lives with ease. Give YOURself some Love- Self Care is needed on a daily basis- big or small. Movement and Healthy Nutrition are definitely ways to give yourself some love. Some other ways to fill up your well: deep breathing, massage, rest, doing something you love, laughter and fun. Giving yourself is not a selfish thing! When you fill up your well, you have more to give to others, and you will operate at your highest levels!
