THANK YOU
This…This actually sounds like a great idea.
I used to work in retail and knowing customers they’d choose the black basket and still ask for help
Well yeah the point of the black basket is to not have workers check in on you not to prevent you from asking for help i mean
Now, if someone picks the black basket and then bitches to the manager like “I stood around for five whole minutes and no one came over to help me find anything” they’re a dumbass who deserves mockery. But if someone picks the black basket and then at some point approaches an employee politely like “excuse me but I can’t find X, could you point me in the right direction?” that’s still entirely reasonable ffs. Also this is a fantastic idea, because sometimes I just want to browse around without being pestered by staff who want to Help Me Find Anything, because I’m not actually looking for anything in specific, and other times I want to get in and out of a store with the particular thing I came for as quickly as possible and it’s faster if someone points me in the direction of that thing. Would make the staff’s efforts to assist customers who want assistance much more efficient by allowing them to easily determine who’s likely to want assistance vs. who they can reasonably leave alone to do their browsing in peace, and reduce customer annoyance by not pestering the people who want to be left alone to browse at their leisure and also getting to the people who want assistance more quickly.
