My most controversial Breaking Bad opinion is that Hank Schrader is a good person and actually handled what he did to Jesse Pinkman really well in a legal sense.

He had the DEA keep telling him that his report makes him look extremely bad, but he was adamant that it was truthful. He had Marie suggesting he lies, but he said hes not going to lie.

He phoned 911, got EMTs and APD/Merkert out to Jesse after Hank realised how far he actually went.

Should he have done what he did? God no, but Hank knows that. He's honest in exactly what he did. He doesnt make excuses. He was terrified for Marie and then was terrified when he thought Jesse had her name. He had untreated PTSD which he should've got treatment for but MenGonnaMen.

He regrets it when he finally figures out who Walt is, because he makes a reference 'that call about Marie wasnt Pinkman, it was you, you had my number'.

It could've easily been covered up and Hank could've been suspended with pay, but because of how honest he was, he was suspended *without* pay. He owned what he did and accepted it. If the cousins attacked him, I would've been curious about what would've happened. Jesse not wanting to continue with charges, wouldn't matter if the DA wanted to continue anyway.

Point is, Hank, problematic as he is with saying dumb shit and seeing drug users as failed humans, is a good guy.

He didn't deserve to get killed by a piece of shit, and neither did Gomey. Hanks determination to be the one to arrest Walt got him, Steve, and Jesse alone, but Hank did not get himself or Gomey killed. That was entirely Walts fault.

I also find it kinda weird to ACAB fictional characters who happen to be cops anyway. Point is, outta all of the characters I feel like Hanks shitassery gets treated as bad as Walter 'I work with fascist and poison children' White, Jesse 'I did shoot Gale in the face and made meth' Pinkman, and Mike 'Im a dirty cop who shot a fundamentally (werner) good man in the head for the crime of missing his wife' Ehrmantraut. (I could name like Saul, Gus, Kim etc here as well but we'd be here all day)

Anyway tl;dr I like all the characters on BrBa and BCS but find Hank gets a brunt of being disliked even though he did far less damage to anyone compared to other main characters.
