Back in the 90s I was very interested in reading about Bikini Kill and Riot Grrrl in magazines like Spin, even though I'd never heard the music. The best parts of this book for me then, unsurprisingly, are about her early days in the Olympia punk scene and zine culture. Big name celebrities like Joan Jett, Sonic Youth, Beastie Boys get a lot of ink but nothing too juicy.

Everybody knows that Hanna gave Kurt Cobain the title "Smells Like Teen Spirit" but it turns out that was after a shitty drunken night of hurt feelings and friendship drama.

Hanna seems like she'd be a bit much in person but she can tell a good story. Recommend
