Say hello to Snaggletooth: the misunderstood terrifying/cute resident Capuchin monkey. #monkey #costarica
Costa Rica: Jurassic Park edition. #costarica #nature #rainforest (at Las Tablas, Hacienda la Amistad)
Spent the day exploring the forest with Walter, the local farm guide and a lovely father-daughter duo who came to visit the farm. Wouldn't have spent it any other way. #puravida #costarica
Picture of a picture. #costarica (at Cerro Pelon, Finca la Amistad)
A little 8-minute star trail from the coffee farm. #startrail #longexposure #costarica #stars
Dat farm life. #costarica #farm (at Finca La Amistad)
With a little bit of patience, a whole lot of luck and the talent of an awesome local guide, we were able to find a Quetzal deep within the forest behind the coffee farm. #quetzal #bird #costarica
Giant bamboo plants at the Las Cruces Biological Station. #bamboo #costarica #ecology
Blue-gray tanager peeking out. #birds #costarica
Honeybee on the coffee farm. There are hundreds of native species of bees here in Costa Rica but the honeybee is not one of them. They were introduced from Africa and have since made themselves right at home. #bee #ecology #costarica
Inga plant with it's any buddy. This plant releases nectar that attracts ants who then protect the plant from other herbivores. #ecology #nature
Made it down the long and winding road through Costa Rica to our coffee farm: La Finca Amistad. We got right to work today to get our sites in shade and sun coffee mapped out. #coffee #costarica #ecology #fieldwork #coffeefarm #nature
Coffee fruit pickings. The farm we're working on has 300ha of coffee trees, both under shade and in sun. According to the owner, it is the first organic coffee farm in Central America and produces about 40% of Costa Rica's organic coffee today. So much land in the tropics is used to grow coffee, making it a super important to understand the effects of the crop on biodiversity. #coffee #costarica #coffeefarm
Crocodiles under the Croc Bridge. #costarica #crocodile #wildlife
First sighting of the adorable Capuchin monkeys. They're considered the smartest of the new world primates and eat just about everything. These cuties travel in groups of about 15 and are just a joy to see. I can't get enough of them! #costarica #capuchin #monkeys
Fungi. #manuelantonio #costarica #fungi (at Manuel Antonio National Park)
Into the Forest. #explore #rainforest #costarica (at Parque Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica)
