“— oh, pardon me a second.” jasper excused himself from his conversation and strolled over to the bar, taking the first stool available. “don’t think i didn’t notice you making eyes at me for the past half hour. hi,” he said to the person now at his side, a self-assured smile across his face. when jasper next spoke, he leaned in close and lowered his voice. “aubrey over there won’t leave me alone and i’ve still got some time to kill before my shift.” he jerked a thumb behind him, pointing at the man who’d previously held his attention. “laugh like i just said something funny, okay? i’ll buy you a shot if you manage to get him to go away.”
angel had been preoccupied talking to the bartender animatedly so it took her a moment to catch jasper’s meaning but then she nodded along, quickly following it up with the laugh that he had asked for. and then, because no one could ever accuse angel of being subtle, she put a hand on her friend’s arm before leaning around Jasper and shooting a glare at the man in question. “hey, connard, he’s not interested. take a hint!” the man shot them an alarmed look before taking off and angel turned her attention back to jasper, scrunching her nose, “men-”. she rolled her eyes before grinning again, raising an eyebrow, “so, how about that shot?”
