So, every year I do one of these, and as it turns out, some of my friends love reading them. Due to that, I've decided to continue the tradition!
January
January was interesting. Work was slowly beginning to slow down. I got to go and work at a different store for two days, which was awesome. I love the people that work there. Maybe I'll transfer there one day and I can work on being a shift? Their store runs way different than ours, but they're also a drive-thru store and not located in a mall, so I can understand that. January was also mine and Chris's one year anniversary! That was exciting, but we didn't do anything for it. Same with my birthday. I think the most that happened was when we were about to go to bed, Chris played 22 by Taylor Swift and we laughed about it. So, I guess in reality, January was kinda boring? Oh and I also finally sent my school book back, and started this semesters classes. I also got Chris a desk as an early birthday present, because he was complaining about how much he wanted one. Now he has one! And he seems to really like it, which is great!
February
February I've started to get frustrated with my job. Like, I love working there and everything, but I'm not making the money I need to be, to be able to afford rent and school and have a bit of spending money for when I go to the states. I'm really hoping I can talk to my boss at some point and get more hours, or be trained to be a shift, or transfer to another store to get more hours. My friend Launa also mentioned that the place she works is looking for someone, and the pay is way better. I don't care if I'm part time there, its better than nothing. I'm seriously contemplating it. I might look into it, and see if its something I can do. Majora's Mask also came out! Very exciting! And its really good. Difficult, but good. I also applied for another job, hoping to use that one to make up for hours that I'm lacking. Money problems have been stressing me out like no tomorrow. I was also supposed to participate in an online game, but decided to drop is since my schedule wasn't exactly working for it the way I wanted it to. But that's ok, there will always be a next time. I also figured out the ending for my AB contest submission! Now I just gotta work everything together to look awesome! I hope it all goes smoothly when I'm actually up on stage! I'm so nervous about that right now, but I don't see why it won't work out when I'm up there, so long as I give myself lots of time to practice. Which is quickly becoming short...it'll get done, no need to worry! (I think I only have like 30 seconds that really needs to be ironed out anyways, which is great.)
March
March started off a little rough. I got my availability changed near the end of the month so I’m no longer available after 5pm weekdays, available all day Saturday and not available on Sundays. Lets face it, I want a more concrete work schedule, and working weird shifts where it doesn’t feel like I have any time to myself doesn’t help. This was also the month Chris broke up with me. At first, it was fine. It was hard to get used to not doing certain things, but other than that, it was fine. I had friends over to help me cope a little better, and things kinda went on like normal. Until the end of the month, when we were getting ready to leave for Boston. That’s kinda when things came crashing down for me, because I felt like things had really changed, and not in a way I wanted. I got mad at Chris because we’d had plans for Anime Boston, and suddenly they’d changed and I hadn’t heard about this until a couple days before we left. Now I was scared because I was worried I was going to be at this giant convention that I didn’t know, with people I didn’t know, and I didn’t know how I’d handle it.
April
We started off April down in Connecticut, and honestly it looks a lot like B.C.! Which was amazing. It felt like I hadn’t really left Canada, until you see all the American flags blowing in front of almost every house and the different signs, then you remember that you’re not in Canada anymore. Anime Boston was that weekend, and at first I wasn’t having fun. What I was worried was going to happen did, and I felt excluded and alone, but I tried to be tough. I still had a little break down, and Chris again got a little irritated at me. I ended up not hanging out with him very much that weekend, which still kind of upsets me. I like having someone to hang out with, especially someone I know who understands my hearing issue. I made friends though! Me and Bri hung out pretty much the entire weekend, and they even came to the Masquerade to support me! It was super awesome of them to do that! We also randomly stopped following the crowd of drunks (our friends) because we saw someone with Oracle cards, and so we stopped and got a reading from them, and talked for a while. It was super interesting, and next thing you know, its midnight! I also got to go to an Aquarium, which was awesome, because I got to touch a stingray. They’re slimy, but I learned its a protective membrane to help keep the stingrays from getting sick an stuff. Very awesome!
May
May was Otafest! I scrambled last minute to get things done, but what's new there? My friend Mikki came down and hung out with Ashley and I, since their girlfriend had to be at a wedding (which is sad), but we still had loads of fun! Although, the cosplay contest was a joke this year. Oh well, perhaps next years will be better? We also learned that starting next year (Otafest 2016) Otafest will no longer be held at UofC, but instead the Telus Convention Centre! Lots of us are excited, but not so excited because that means that it will be hosted July long weekend instead of May long weekend. Probably only for the one year, but either way, it doesn't bother me. This was also the month where Chris and I got different rooms. I quite enjoyed having a room to myself, but I knew the set-up wasn't going to last long. Chris was out in the living room, and that was just a no-no. So it was either sometime that month, or sometime the next month that we moved me into the cosplay room, and him into the old room. Much better idea if I do say so myself. This was also around the time that I started talking to my current boyfriend!
June
June...June...Ah what even happened in June? It wasn't as far away as January, so you'd think I'd remember it better? But apparently not?
July
This is the month I got to be part of a Love Live panel! It was so much fun, and I'm so glad Mikki got me into love live! So most of the month was spent working on a last-minute costume and practicing lots of dances! This is also when my boyfriend and I made it official, and I couldn't be happier! Even though not a lot happened in July, it was still super fun because I got to start dancing again, and met new friends that I still talk to!
August
Animethon!! And Ashley's birthday, both are very important. Animethon I was part of 3 panels, Convention Horror Stories, a Haikyuu panel and the Love Live panel. All three were fantastic! The Haikyuu panel was beyond funny and I'm excited to host another one, con horror stories was nice and relaxing, and I wouldn't mind hosting that one again, and finally the love live one was sooo much fun! Honestly, after having not gone to Animethon for a year due to bad events, this was the best Animethon so far! Perfect way to get back into it, in my opinion.
September
What a nightmare. I spent a good chunk of August and most of September stressing out due to finances. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to attend school this semester, and that was very scary for me. I managed, thanks to the help of my friends and room mate, but it would've been nice to not be stressed out about it.
October
Finally got everything paid off, and started to look towards Otafest Aurora, and also visiting my boyfriend! Originally, we planned for December break, however I learned that I wasn't allowed to book more than 2 days off in a row at work, due to it being black out. (I still ended up booking 4 off in a row) I worried about what I was going to be for halloween, and decided to be Hinata (minus the wig, because no.) which was worth it. It was so hot in the store, that the uniform helped keep me cool! It also showed off all the nifty bruises on my legs! (no idea how I keep getting them, but there they are!) Finally got all my flights figured out so I could go visit my boyfriend near the end of November, and got that booked off ASAP so I knew I WOULD have it off (and not be stressing out about that.)
November
Otafest Aurora was at the beginning of the month, and from what I heard, I missed out on a wonderful Gala! (Next year!!!) Aurora was still fun! The morning I was Lorelei (one of the mascots) then I quickly changed into Honoka so I could do Love Live things as her, including recording a dance for Astella! (Which is the name of my dance group!) From there, I frantically ran around trying to find a bathroom so I could change into Hinata for my Haikyuu panel. Almost didn't happen, and I'd decided to make up some silly story as to why I was still Honoka for the panel, but Ashley pulled me into a bathroom as I was heading to the room, that the panelists had taken over so I could change. The panel probably would've went better had it not been at 7pm, but there wasn't anything we could do about that really. So we were all very tired from the day, but still tried our hardest to be active! (I almost fell asleep twice HAHA)
The end of the month, I excitedly flew down to see my boyfriend, and it was the best trip I've ever had! He showed me around town, took me to a few of his favourite restaraunts, and we had Thanks Giving together with his family and friends. (States Thanks Giving) We also took a day-trip to New York City, and wandered around SOHO and Broadway. It would've been better had I not been tired, and had it not been raining, but it was still so much fun and quite a culture shock to me! (No one cares about cross-walks or signals D: )
December
And finally, December. I haven't quite rested up from my trip, as I still get tired and want to stay up until 2am or some silly time. But it could be worse. I went to a Lolita meet for the first time in AGES and it was the best! I got a pillow and a hair-tie from it, talked about a bunch of weird and random things with the girls (we're so not girly or polite LOL) and gorged ourselves on wonderful home-made food! (Next year I'll make better dishes). I spent Christmas and New Years over at Ashley's house, which was very refreshing. I also saw Star Wars Episode 7 twice; once with my Landlord and room mate, and again with Ashley's Uncles, one of which was estatic to see it. I invested in an acoustic guitar that I absolutely love! (Learning how to switch between finger positions is SO HARD)
So now I'm planning out events in 2016, most of which are conventions that I am beyond excited about! There's so much my friends and I have planned and want to do, and I really hope we can do it all!
