@delightfuldelta
{Owlery}
He wasn’t ever very mean to anyone unless they were mean to him first. His anger was a defense mechanism. He couldn’t imagine Delta ever being mean to anyone. The fact that she even tried to give him a little nose laugh at his super dumb joke said a lot about her. When she mentioned apparating he nodded sympathetically, leaning his back up against the wall to write. “Expensive huh? They did a loan thing for me last year, maybe you could ask?” 12 galleons was a ridiculous price, loads of students couldn’t afford it, but apparating was important. He could understand her frustration.
How was she supposed to answer that? Yes, part of it was true, but they could have made it work. She could have gotten one of those scholarship loan things or asked dad’s side of the family for a bit of help. Her dad had told her to use fear as an excuse, say she was too scared to take the classes, but Delta had already blown that cover. For once she just wanted to tell the truth. But that couldn’t happen. Not all the way at least, “Afraid it’s a bit more complicated than that?” she sniffed, wiping at her face once more, trying desperately to gain control of her tear ducts, “I mean, it is expensive an’ all but it’s also... Complicated. I dunno... Did you take the classes?”
{Owlery}
She wasn’t fine. He was far from an expert in human emotions, but Delta actually didn’t even look like herself without her infectious smile on her face. He wasn’t stupid, it was obvious she was upset, and he wasn’t quite callous enough to just leave her. “Do you wanna talk about it? I’m a good listener?” A joke at the expense of his affliction, he offered her a weak smile with the note.
Delta breathed a laugh out of her nose, but her eyes were tearing up even more. Loxley was being so nice, “It’s fine,” she repeated, making a note not to use the word fine anymore, “I’m sort of a cry baby, you don’t have to listen to my silly little problems.” she glanced to the open air windows where a tawny owl was just flying in, bathed in morning sunlight. That complicated things, Delta would have liked to wait a bit in hopes for a cloud, or at least leave alone and be able to cover up without looking strange. So... maybe talking was a better option, “I just wanted to learn how to apparate, ya know?” her voice cracked.
{Owlery}
Miri really needed an update on everything that was going on. She’d mentioned that Jeremy’s letters had become sparse and vague, and she was worried about him. Honestly, Loxley was worried too, and he needed the support of his aunt and uncle. He had a thick envelope with the longest letter he’d ever written inside, and was taking the stairs two at a time. He noticed Delta and waved his letter at her to acknowledge her presence before quickly getting an owl for his mail. When he was finished, he sighed with relief, and waved at her again. It was only when he noticed her without her trademark infectious smile that he frowned and fished out some paper. “You okay?”
“I’m fine.” Delta said as her voice cracked and she sounded totally not fine. She quickly folded up the letter and shoved it into her cloak pocket, crumpling up the sensitive information. Not worth the risk it had said. We don’t even know if apparating is possible it had said, taking care not to mention what we were. She looked at Loxley’s piece of paper, at the ceiling, at the floor, anywhere but Loxley’s eyes. Delta took a deep breath then tried again, “I’m fine.” she assured him. It wasn’t exactly a lie, she was fine she was just-- “’M just a bit disappointed is all. Got some bad news. It’s really no big deal in the end.”
“Right, of course, crochet.” Tyler struggled to knit on the best of days, the tubes he managed to make all had started out as other things but didn’t really go to plan, he really tried to concentrate but in the end it never quite went to plan. It’s why he’d needed so much help with Jeremy’s gift and why he’d probably need help with this too. “I might have to take you up on that offer, I haven’t really bought her any toys yet so making her one will have to do for now.” He didn’t really know much about cat toys but he had read a lot about kittens and knew playing with them was an important part of their early lives, at the moment Tyler just let her play with odd things he found about the dorm or in the common room, though most of the time she was rather happy to attack his feet or fingers instead. “She likes to chase things and she’s a little… destructive? I mean she’ll probably tear it apart if she gets hold of it so it’ll have to be quite strong.”
“Maybe you’ve been wasting your time on all this silly knitting nonsense, maybe crochet is your true calling,” Delta joked, already rummaging through her satchel for her crochet hooks, “Some people like it because it’s only one needle, and with knitting having two needles makes it easy to drop stitches. I s’pose if we’re starting from the beginning I should start you off with a chain stitch,” Delta grinned as she grabbed a hooked needle from within her satchel, pulling it out along with a mass of tangled blue yarn it was attached to. “She sounds lovely! I always wanted a dog or a cat, not that I don’t love my pigmy puff Sherlock. Didja get her for Christmas?” Delta chatted as she attempted to untangle the mess, hoping talking about the absolutely lovely little kitten would make him feel better. Because kittens always improved the mood.

Delta’s heart was still beating like a hummingbird’s, but she had managed to calm her breathing from the long trek up to the owlery. She had been waiting for this news. She could barely sleep, let alone wait for breakfast time for the school’s screech owl to drop off the news. But her flittering heart was not due to the stairs any longer rather than the bad news the letter held. He dad was right--apparation lessons were too risky, it’d be dangerous if someone splinched and bled right in front of her. Plus, think of the bright side! All the money saved meant new school robes, or maybe a father daughter trip to Diagon Alley! Still, Delta’s stomach had sunk to the floor and she was blinking back tears. She had just wanted to learn how to apparate with the rest of her class. Delta didn’t hear anyone climbing the steps to the owlery, but she wiped her eyes quickly when the owls around her flapped as warning of a new visitor.
“Scarves, hates, mittens-” He’d managed to find a knitting book in the library, considering he had nothing else to occupy his time at the moment- probably forever if you combined his luck with his developing pessimism- he’d decided to put more time into mastering the art of knitting. He’d joined the club but wouldn’t call himself a natural, Tyler was good at intricate spells or memorising steps for potion brewing, knitting on the other hand was not a skill he’d easily picked up. “Maybe a cat toy?” A soft sigh left him, disrupting the muttering he didn’t realise he was doing, flicking over another page and absent-mindedly muttering, “Alice doesn’t have many toys.”
“If you’re making cat toys than crochet would likely be a better method.” Delta peeked over her old knitting magazine where she had been studying a poncho pattern, “Some people say it’s easier than knitting, I could teach ya!” It was sad how sad he was. How sad they were. Her heart broke when she first heard the news of the break up, she had been there all through Tyler struggling to make the phone case and Jeremy coordinating the frog choir to sing to Tyler at the bonfire. The two shmucks loved each other so much and they hardly even realized it. Delta just wanted them to feel better.
SMH: Arthur, Tucker, Faith
Again? But I like all these people!
Fine, I’d snog Tucker, marry Faith, and hex Arthur because I’m sure he’d love the attention.
What would you do if you were caught having sex?
Probably die right on the spot or become so embarrassed that I just cease to exist altogether and disappear.
SMH: Faith, Caldwell, Ace
Isn’t the rule supposed to be that there’s one person you don’t like so you can choose to hex them? That’s just hardly fair!
...Fine.
I’d snog Caldwell because I couldn’t marry him because he and Sonder are too perfect together and I definitely couldn’t ruin that, then I’d Marry Faith and I’d hex Ace because I feel like he’d take it well but I’d feel really really bad about it and bake him cakes.
Tell us more about your crush...
Oh so you expect me to spill everything when the other person who has a crush on ME won’t even say who they are? Yeah, nice try anon.
I have a crush on you
wHAT?! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME SOONER?! WHY DON’T YOU TELL ME NOW?! WHO ARE YOU!?
Do you have a crush on anyone?
No!
...I mean, well, yes, but everyone gets little crushes every now and then it doesn’t mean anything’s gonna come from them!
Does the carpet match the drapes?
Yeah..... I know my hair color seems unusual which is probably why I get that question an uncomfortable amount of times.... But, uh, yeah....
Do you have a sexual preference for boys or girls?
Both? Both. Both are good.
{Bonfire Love}
Sonder giggled as he was poked and batted at her hand. “Why?! You’re totally cute Delta, and it doesn’t even have to be a romantic date! I’d date you!” It was only a cute little idea he’d had, it was totally obligation free. He handed Delta a sheet of paper with a grin. “Just hobbies, interests, and there’s a whole section on word association. Like, what’s the first thing that pops into your head when I say strawberries? That kind of thing. Go on!”
“Romantic or not, I don’t date!” Delta exclaimed before pausing, “Or at least, I haven’t dated. Ever. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself! Are friend dates the same as romantic dates? Also why aren’t friend dates a thing?” Delta took the paper from him, scanning over it excitedly, “Shortcake.” she answered his question, then scrunching her eyebrows pointed at the paper, “Why does this ask for my height? That has nothing to do with good matches.”
