Floating in the ER
So yesterday I floated in the ER and I’m little disappointed. There really wasn’t much going on yesterday besides the occasional abdominal pain and coughing, sneezing, and runny noses. However, I did spend a lot of time with the nurses and talking to them about their experiences in nursing school, being fresh grad nurses, and dealing with doctors. I really appreciated those conversations and they put lessen a few of my fears about entering the career after passing the boards. It was nice and comforting they took time to talk to me when they could have ignored me because they had a good amount of downtime. I think that after I pass my boards, I would like to work in a teaching hospital and help nursing students. I might even think about becoming a clinical instructor.
Hey P!!
The ER is one of the types of nursing I was thinking about getting into. Yeah you might have your slow days but on the days that your busy i feel like it would be a high like no other. Knowing how to handle crazy situations like gunshots or motor vehicle accidents seems like a really interesting aspect of all of our possible careers paths. It’s always nice when the nurses at our clinical are friendly because some people just don’t want to deal with students. Really cool that you might wanna be an instructor!!
