13 years ago, we lost a wonderful woman, who my cousins and I called Tutu. Our grandmother was a beautiful person who loved her family, and especially her grandbabies, something fierce. Some years, the loss is just a fact, like needing air to breathe. Others, it’s like a fresh pain, knowing how much of our lives she’s physically missed. Besides 13 being an important number for me normally, it hurts a little more this year knowing we also recently lost her oldest sister, Aunt Mary. At least they are together once again. I’m forever grateful for the time I did get with my Tutu and that I’ll always have a part of her with me, but I’ll always wish she could’ve been here for all the new milestones in her grandbabies’ lives, including some adorable great grandbabies. I know I speak for all us cousins when I say we love and miss you so, so much, Tutu. And rest in peace to your amazing sister, Mary.
