Prompt: Accidental "I love you". Pairing: College!Bucky x Reader Word count: your guess is as good as mine, did it on my phone againnnnnn Warnings: miscommunication, drinking, SMUT, p in v, ruined orgasm, fluff. You weren’t supposed to fall for Bucky Barnes.

It was supposed to be easy. Late-night texts. Quickie study breaks. Heated makeouts behind closed doors. A stress reliever. A comfort. A mutual understanding.

And it was that… until it started to feel like more. Until you caught him looking at you during movie nights the way friends didn’t. Until you started staying the night on purpose.

Until your heart started doing that stupid fluttering thing when he touched your bare back.

You’ve been at it for hours—well, technically, off and on for days—but tonight?

Tonight he told you to take what you wanted.

And you’re doing just that.

You tried to keep the words you overheard earlier off your mind, keep your feelings at bay. “Never go out with a girl you’re not serious about on Valentine’s, man. They get aaaaall the wrong idea.” You heard Bucky tell Sam.

Bucky was sprawled against your pillows, thighs tense, hair a sweaty mess as you rode him slow and deep, his hands locked around your hips like he wasn’t not sure whether to stop you or pull you closer.

His head tilted back, eyes fluttering every time you ground down in just the right way, and the tension in his stomach was delicious—like he was trying so hard not to lose it.

He’d already edged himself twice. The man had been suffering under you, and it was making you feel smug as hell.

“That feel good, Buck?” you pant, digging your nails into his chest as you bounce. “You’re close, huh?”

He lets out this absolutely wrecked moan, head snapping forward, eyes locking with yours.

“Fuck, baby, don’t stop—you’re gonna make me—gonna fuckin’—I—”

In the middle of a moan and a whimper, he lets out something that sounds an awful lot like “nnngghh— I love you.” while he fills you up.

He froze.

You froze.

It was like the orgasm had knocked it out of him—yanked it straight from his chest without permission.

He blinked up at you, still inside, pupils blown wide and expression completely horrified. “Oh my god.”

“Did you just—?” You just stared, panting. “Bucky—”

“OH MY GOD,” he repeated, voice cracking this time, as he physically squirmed out from under you like a man escaping a crime scene.

“I didn’t mean—I didn’t mean to say that—not like that—I was coming, it doesn’t count—FUCK.” You quickly reached down to stop cum from dripping out of you and onto the sheets.

You’re left there, dripping and throbbing from your high that never came, staring in disbelief as he grabs the nearest towel—your towel—and bolts for the bathroom like it’s a panic room.

SLAM.

LOCK.

“Are you serious right now?!” you shout, still fully naked, still full of him, as you flop backwards onto the bed in absolute disbelief.

“You literally just came inside me and told me you love me and now you’re locking yourself in the bathroom?!”

“That wasn’t how I wanted to tell you!” he yells back, voice muffled by the door and his own shame. “I had a plan! I had a speech!”

“You had a speech?!”

“Yes! And it didn’t include screaming it while balls-deep and convulsing like a fucking Victorian maiden losing her virtue!”

You bury your face in your hands, laughing so hard your stomach hurts. It’s insane how much you love this idiot.

“I love you too, Bucky,” you say through your giggles, even if he can barely hear it. “You dramatic, stupid, emotionally constipated man.”

There’s silence for a second. Then a very soft “…Really?”

You roll your eyes and sit up, already reaching for the discarded hoodie on the floor. “Yes, really. Now get your ass out here before I have to fake an orgasm so loud it gets you written up by the RA again.”

He groans from behind the door. “You’re gonna tell people about this, aren’t you.”

“Oh, absolutely. This is prime blackmail. My group chat’s gonna feast.”

The lock clicks and the door creaks open.

There he was. Flushed, sheepish, towel slung around his hips, hair damp from splashing his face like a man trying to baptize the shame away. He wouldn’t meet your eyes.

You crossed the room slowly, until you were standing in front of him. His eyes flick down, and then up again, like he’s trying to be respectful and failing miserably.

“Hi,” you whisper.

He swallows. “Hey.”

You reach up, cup his jaw, brush your thumb along his cheek. “Next time,” you say softly, “say it before you come.”

He laughs, shoulders sagging with relief—and before you can blink, his arms are around you and his mouth’s on yours, all teeth and tongue and finally.

And when he lifts you up—arms firm around your thighs—you wrap your legs around him and whisper against his lips.

“Now finish what you started, lover boy.”

summary: in which you don’t wake up with your boyfriend by your side, but you do wake up to breakfast in bed.

You almost immediately groan as you wake up to the blaring sunlight streaming through your curtains, dousing you in warmth and light as you got up.

The protests you prepare almost immediately die down in your throat as a sweet honey smell wafts through you and Clark’s apartment and into your senses. Outside your guys’ bedroom door you hear sizzling and the wood quietly creaking.

"Clark?" You quietly call out but Clark hears it anyway with his superhearing. He picks up the tray he spent all morning trying to precisely plate and decorate, pinning the tray between one hand and his body momentarily while the other one turns the doorknob to your room, a smile growing on his face as he sees you.

It’s nothing glorious, but it sends another warmth blooming through you. It’s quiet, thoughtful, romantic. That’s what matters to you. Clark is wearing a blank white t shirt and some blue sweats paired with his shabby plaid robe draped over him, smiling warmly as he walks to your bedside, the wood creaking beneath his feet as he carefully sets the tray down near you as he gets on the bed, sweetly kissing your temple.

"Good morning baby." He exhales breathlessly as he pulls away, his curls untame and painfully Clark, grinning brightly.

"What’s this?" You hum, unable to contain the fond smile that hurts your cheeks as you glance down at the tray, eyeing the carefully cut up fruit, the assortment of treats and pancakes and a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

"I was… trying to make you breakfast in bed, hopefully wake you up with it but looks like you beat me." He murmurs, sheepish which only makes you let out a hearty laugh.

"Well, still I love it Clark." You murmur affectionately, holding his face as you kiss him gratefully, one which he melts into all too easily, sighing against your lips as Clark’s eyes flutter shut.

"Happy Valentine’s Day baby."
