life update + asking for help.

About two months ago, I suddenly lost my dad. A few days before he took his own life, he was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. He’s always lived with mental health struggles, he would have been sixty five on April 10.

When it happened, I totally dropped off the internet completely. I’ve been processing the loss, and how it happened, but I cut my internet bill to compensate for the major life event this has been. I’ve just been going non stop for weeks, I’ll be able to respond to messages and concerns in a bit. I hope I didn’t worry anyone too much.

I’m not sure why he did what he did but I think he was just searching for some rest. And he has that now — I’ve been trying to catch up with life since the loss; he had some bills that I needed to take care of, on top of services for end of life care. I have nearly everything sorted now but a bill of $102 that is due in 3 days. It’s frustrating because I just don’t have it right now and they’re being pretty strict about when it’s paid. I’m at the library now, just posting this everywhere I can, thank you so much for reading. I miss being around a ton.

my body rejects sufjan stevens the way a small, trembling victorian boy would penicillin. it's killing me, it's like twisting my bones apart and the bones are sharp and they're poking my sides. i need it though, that man keeps me alive though. truly. but i'm telling you right now, god forbid any one chord of mystery of love grace my headphones and i start thinking about being a person in 2017.

someone followed me

“ i've been thinking about that place on divisadero. ” daniel slings his arm around the stranger's shoulders without missing a beat, guiding her onto a new path. good to stay calm, take unexpected detours, he doesn't look over his shoulder. he's been staying off divisadero lately, but it's the first place he thinks of that's bright and loud and serves a great lamb biryani. there's a suppressed urge to ask if she thinks the person following her has sharp teeth; he's supposed to be helping.

it's vaguely alarming—whatever's following her is threatening enough that she approached a strange man for help. he's more paranoid than he shows, rattling on about a book he's thinking about writing that's just the plot to ghostbusters like they're old friends. daniel considers dropping her off at a police station but would rather take his chances with a shadow that has sharp teeth than one this city's cops. no naan at the SFPD anyway. he throws the girl a smile that he hopes is more reassuring than not. “ you still like indian food, yeah? ”

she  turned  so  swiftly  to  face  him  that  one  might  wonder  how  her  spine  did  not  snap  from  the  sheer  force  of  it.  still,  not  a  flash  of  discomfort  marred  her  expression,  nor  did  the  slightest  strain  taint  her  voice. 

“ i’m  sorry,  daniel.  it  was  truly  a  pleasure  meeting  you,  but  i  do  believe  i  made  myself  clear:  i  must  take  my  leave.  however  ━ ” 

opportunism  took  hold,  seeping  into  her  thoughts  alike  a  relentless  disease.  a  slow,  beguiling  smile  curled  upon  her  lips.

“ ━  i  could  be  persuaded  to  stay  if,  of  course,  you’d  care  to  purchase  a  reading  from  me. ”

they walked on a planet inhabited by those that ached for someone to tell their life experiences to, but no everyone sought out that sort of exhibition. there were plenty content to keep their words close to their chest. daniel understood — being exposed to a stranger's viscous empathy both excites and terrify him.

though he's made a career out of judging character, daniel struggled to understand where he stands with the other. she's charismatic but foreboding. persuaded to stay, but only granted he spill those last coins he has. daniel, lonely enough to not need a second offer. he shrugged, more nonchalant than he feels, dragging his palms against the rough threads of his jeans.

“ yeah, sure. ” daniel stretched the word out, watching her smile and wondering how much of that was bullshit charm. it's fair, he respects the game. “ — reading first. ”

" what’s your problem ? "

daniel lifts his gaze from the seat he's slumped in, pressing an index finger firmly against his throbbing temple. the massacre he's sitting before is gruesome; tangles of tape bleeding out of a cassette, next to balled up pages ripped from a legal pad. “ i fucked the tape up, ” he confesses, wincing at the coastal whine of his own voice. it's an amateur's mistake and thinking about it makes him sick — roof of his mouth tasting sour kind of sick. dorothy h. entrusted her story with daniel and he was leaving it in the potentially molded waste basket of a one star-motel room.

the edge of his palm nudges wire frames up his nose, dragging his eyes down lee's body with enough intent to seem predatory. there's zero chance lee will give him an interview, but he's half tempted to argue about it. his knuckle raps against cheap not-wood, teeth sunk into his bottom lip, thinking loudly. half-spun in his chair so he can smile at lee directly with a new plan, syrup sweet. “ put your best ripped denim on, we're going out to find a weirdo. ”

i was thinking about kissing, usfw, ship prompts and in case i haven't said it before: you can always send that stuff. it may never turn into a ship, it might end up consuming my life—but there's all kind things daniel gets into. no commitments needed, i'm here to be a gremlin.

KISSING PROMPTS [ ... ] accepting.

the words don't matter; it always comes down to the same things with louis. shared persistence, companionable loneliness. daniel's mean streak and louis' avoidance.

louis’ lips are softer than daniel expects them to be, his meandering daydreams always made them out of rubber, always thought it'd be like kissing a corpse. drinking formaldehyde. he's kissing louis back, he hadn't even seen him move. their noses nudge together, clumsy and human. louis doesn't taste chemical; it's clean, crisp, sort of dry. lips like the chilled rim of a martini glass, sinking a warm burn to his belly. there's a staggering step back as daniel pulls away, wiping his mouth, his cheeks are hot.

“ that's a non-starter, man. ” the words twist into a weak smile at their ends, he's kiss-stupid—he doesn't remember what they were fighting about. his eyes are on the crucifix behind louis' head; that dumb, charming crucifix. why would a vampire have a crucifix, why would louis taste like his favorite martini. daniel clears his throat, color still high in his face. “ who taught you how to debate? ”
