could not leave it alone… I think now it is ready for paint!
I think it is ready to go to paint!
I decided to paint a still life my students set up.

couple quick sketches to keep the pencil moving!
during my last show, people asked a lot of questions about some of the shaping that occurs in some of my paintings… Some of it is math and sometimes it is a secret. Here is an example of how it works… extra points if you recognize the shape!?

Thursday’s I teach drawing… the last two classes of each semester I do live figures drawing. As the timer is running down, I try and whip something out. A quick gesture or a simple mass drawing.
This is one of the ones I did as time expired. (I guess it is technically two)
I think I am done…
My teacher has a rule or more of a superstition… he never painted a self portrait. He felt that if he did that he would die. He was terrified of death. He lived till he was 95, and his death is a long story on it’s own… but as far as I know he never painted himself.
I was recently diagnosed with Cancer… and it is an aggressive cancer. The Doctors have all been overly positive, from the first test that was the warning, to the MRI, PET scan and biopsy… each time they would go in telling me that this was no big deal, only to be proven that there is more concern.
I don’t want to die, but I figured that it was time to paint myself… so this is a self portrait. I have not shared it with my family and will wait until I get back from my pending surgery…
I thought… just in case.
I would not say finished yet… but covered.
