I think I am officially Fandom Old. I am so worn out from the arguments on who's the top or the bottom (who cares), what is allowed to be written (anything you want, bejeebus), what is Problematic (I know, just tag it), what other people Should Do (they Should live their lives free of judgment). There isn't a Right Way to do things. Tag your stuff appropriately, don't read stuff you don't want to read, and leave other people (me) alone.
There is nothing quite like the freedom of having gone through all of the Discourse and come out the other side into the promised land of Not Giving A Fuck.
The three keys to the promised land are “Block, Unfollow, and Do Not Engage”
I absolutely despise this kind of ambiguous, insidious, manipulative, pseudo-empathetic rhetoric to imply there's something "problematic" with saintspierre.
Kids who don't know much about the topic but are sensitive to social justice issues, who don't want to mess up and do something problematic, and very likely have ocd (hi, I have OCD) are extremely susceptible to this. It weaponizes vague moral vocabulary designed to trigger anxiety rather than invite actual intellectual debate.
There is absolutely nothing "problematic" about analyzing, writing about, or interpreting their relationship as a profound, intense, or even romantic partnership. Sanitizing their relationship to something non-sexual and strictly professional is not social justice. Especially since they were some of the fathers to social justice lol.
Creating a moral panic in order to prop up your own potentially extremely toxic enemies-to-lovers crackship is, well, morally bankrupt.
People "meet this idea with anger and resistance" because you are forcing a hierarchy upon equals.
Saint-Just was not his "little brother". He was his "brother" in the revolutionary sense of fraternity. It's ahistorical, anachronistic, and has nothing to do with who they actually were as real people. You act like they were fictional characters you can project whatever headcanon onto, and disregard that they were historical figures. This dynamic is deeply insulting to Saint-Just, which you would know if you cared about him - which you don't. He's just a fun bundle of tropes to play with to you - not a real human being who lived and existed.
I've had enough of the misinformation you spread about Saint-Just that you construe as your "harmless opinion".
I've been patient about this issue for half a year, if not more at this point.
This is what happens when I've had enough.
