âMen are fools for a pretty face.â

Biography (violence mention, death mention, gun mention, criminal activity mention, theft)
âHer blood is like liquid fire.â â Queen of the Damned (2002)
â Born to a rather unconventional household the Zamaniâs made a living from traveling, from teaching, from whatever they so pleased and could pick up, toting their child around across the world with them and never staying in one place longer than a couple of years.Â
â In her opinion, it was exciting to move and change schools, making new friends wherever she went and reinventing herself along the way. But, much of the novelty had worn off by high school.Â
âMost children settled into their friend groups by then, but during the times she wasnât welcomed by her classmates, Delphine would comfort herself with her books and played in her backyard, living off of the knowledge that if she didnât like it here, it wouldnât be long before mom and dad decided that they needed another change of scenery. âTheyâre just jealousâ Sheâd think to herself. âThey donât get to go on adventures like we do.â
â By her high school years sheâd decided that everyday had to be an adventure. It had to be different, it had to be fun, and if there wasnât something that had made her heart sing and blood rush through her veins with adrenaline, it was a day wasted.Â
â Partway through high school one too many crime shows and films led to her interest in sleight of hand tricks, and from there the world seemed to expand further in its already vast horizon. The thrill of being caught, the satisfaction of not being caught, and the higher stakes she built for herself had her out of the house more often than in it.Â
â After she graduated from high school, Delphine and her parents were quick to part ways. She wanted to experience university life, and they, after two years of living in the same area, wanted to travel abroad. So, they went, and she ended up in Boston while her parents went overseas to backpack through Europe.Â
â New city, new people, and she could up the stakes of her little games. It never did take long for her to make friends (hi Lachlan!), and there were times where she felt almost⌠Normal, sharing an apartment with others and attending classes between her nightly (and daily) shenanigans.Â
âIt didnât take long for trouble to catch up to her, however. Her second year in Boston had equated to one too many wallets lifted and watches stolen, and after nearly being caught, nearly being identified and shot, she knew she had to keep her head down and lay low until she finished her associates in criminal justice. Delphine did just that and split, leaving the friends sheâd made quickly behind.
âBut did the threat on her life keep her from going back to her ways? NOPE.
â In the past eight years, sheâs still not settled down longer than a year or two in one place, ricocheting between small towns and large cities, hostels and apartments, temp jobs and short contracts, reinventing herself and colouring her hair, giving herself new nicknames each time.Â
â Lovers only last as long as she remains in town, friendships are distant if not fleeting. Â
âA love like her parentsâ seems like an impossibility to her. No one likes to leave like she does, and Delphine hasnât felt grounded enough to stay. Four years ago, her parentsâ sudden passing during a meet-up in Lyon for her birthday drove her even further away from personal connections, including a man named Aless that sheâd foolishly fallen in love with.
â The lesson from her parentsâ death? People couldnât lose you, nor could you lose people if you werenât present long enough for it to matter. So, she disappeared on him. Or at least, thatâs what one party believes. Sheâd written a letter attempting to explain herself, but who knows if heâd ever received it.
â Her life should be an adventure: she shouldnât be stuck in one place. Her life is an adventure: sheâs a fool to think any other lifestyle would be nearly as satisfying.Â
â The stakes have gotten even higher since she was in college. Sheâs played the long cons and charmed her way into closed circles, learned how to shoot a gun and throw a knife for peace of mind.Â
â Delphine is in Salem after spending time in Washington state to lay low after teaming with a few others for a minor diamond heist in Florida, not big enough to make it past local news, but she could never be too carefulâ not when unidentifiable blurred images of herself and her friends exist.
â Historically non-violent, Delâs turned a new leaf somewhere between the west and east coast and one can thank the fuck thatâs left a four inch scar along her neck. She wants revenge, but sheâs planning a long game with friends, meticulously planning everything and taking their time(the higher the stakes, the smaller margin for mistakes after all) while theyâre here in Salem.Â
