“Honestly though, I dunno if I’d want that to happen in the first place,” Eddie admitted with a shrug. “Ah, good, so it’s not mandatory for everyone. I don’t even know what mine would be.”

“don’t worry too much about it just yet.” she grinned, nodding. “yeah, no, not mandatory. i don’t know either. never seen an enyo kid get claimed.”

“Do I look okay to you?!”  Tatia was frantic, a feeling that was ultimately unknown to the Athena child.  So often had Tatia controlled her emotions, thought about everything logically even if the situation was something most others would lose their minds to.  Now though…now she didn’t know how to think herself out of the senseless fear that was eating her from the inside out.  “I know it’s not real!  I know it’s not real yet I can’t help but react like this!  How the hell could we possibly fix that?”

“no, but you don’t look hurt. which means you’re better than it could be.” the redhead felt helpless, something she hated. she had no idea how to help her sister, and it killed her. “i don’t know, okay? i don’t know yet, but i’m going to figure it out.”

It was taking longer than it usually would for Tatia to remember where she was; her mind was still half hung up on the nightmare she’d just been dreaming.  The deep breathes weren’t coming to her either and she choked on a sob.  It was a while before she actually spoke and when she did all she said was: “I’m so sick of this,” tears still streaming down her face.

sick of this? was this what had been upsetting her for the last few weeks? why she hadn’t been sleeping well? scar ran a hand over tatia’s back, trying to calm her. “shh, i-i know... but you’re okay. we’re... we’re gonna get you through this, okay? i promise we’re gonna get you through this. just breathe, tati. it wasn’t real.”

Far away.  That’s what the voice sounded like to her, but just how far away was it?  No, that didn’t matter, by the time they reached her it would be too late she’d already be monster food by then if the monster even deemed her worthy of eating.  The voice sounded again, now closer.  “Here, I’m here!” Tatia called out into the darkness.  Slowly Tatia began to shake the chains of slumber and she could hear her sister’s voice now - closer.  As she felt a jolt to her body, Tatia’s eyes flew open and she gasped out a sob as more tears ran down her cheeks.

she sighed in relief as her sister woke suddenly, though the tears startled her. she gently wrapped an arm over her sister’s shoulders. she didn’t want to restrict her too much, freak her out more, but she also wanted to make sure tatia knew she was there and everything was okay. “hey, hey you’re alright, tati. it was a dream, okay? just- just take deep breaths.”

With a book in hand and a large tree with its leaves rustling above her, Tatia found herself in the dark embrace of sleep.  The sun was beating down on the warm summer day and with the little sleep Tatia had been getting it had been a relatively inviting atmosphere to just relax in.  Unfortunately for the demigod, however, her slumber wasn’t very peaceful.  She’d hoped that with how exhausted she was the nightmares wouldn’t show themselves but it seemed that’s not what the Fates had in store for her.  

Tatia was mumbling in her restless sleep for a while before the tears started.  And once the tears started it wasn’t long after that Tatia found herself screaming.  Whether it was out loud or only in her dreams she didn’t know, but she needed someone to save her - to help her…but she’d pushed everyone away so many times why would they come to her rescue?  

scar was laying out on the porch of her cabin reading a book and enjoying the silence. she’d lost track of how long she’d been there when she heard someone scream. she let out a curse and ran in the direction of the noise, stopping short at the sight of tatia fast asleep, screaming and crying. the redhead knelt down, shaking her sister harder than she normally would. “tatia. tatia! wake up!”

“I guess in that situation I’d have to get used to it pretty quick,” Eddie suggested, though he didn’t add that he doubted he’d need a sword to inflict some damage. Not that he was very proud of that fact. “It’s fine, it’s just a little weird since I don’t know if I should say I’m ‘claimed’ or not, I mean, I know who my mom is but I never had any floating emblems above my head or anything.”

“oh, very true.” she shrugged. “if you already know, you probably won’t get an emblem. i didn’t, either. it’s nothing to worry about.”

“Yeah, you’re probably right. I guess I’m still too new to the whole ‘the gods are real’ thing to then go to look one right in the eye,” Eddie laughed, only slightly louder than Scarlett’s had been. “I got a Post-It note with pretty much just an address on it, luckily I’ve gotten a little more info since then.” He shook his head, laugh still faintly present. “I don’t think it’ll come to that either, everyone seems friendly here.”

“i promise you’ll get used to it pretty quick. especially once you see some crazy god magic in action and they put a sword in your hand.” she smiled, shaking her head. “shit, that’s awful. my mom helped me on my way here. still almost died about five times, but it was helpful.” she played with her hair as she spoke. “yeah, most people are.”

“Ya could maybe talk ta one of the gods, I ‘m sure that they would be able ta answer your question. I ‘m sure they will be back, that they will find them”

“the only god who might know anything is hades, and no one knows where the hell he is either. it’s been weeks. if he’s not back by now, then screw chiron, i’m going there myself.”

“okay, well, i just- i have to find someone who’s actually been paying attention before i charge into the fucking underworld myself.”

        and when laura got up she hit her brother in the face, hard.         one, two, three. and down he fell. she looked at her friend         before giving her a bow. 

                 “ can you sauce me the towel. ”

“yeah, sure babe.” she picked up the towel and tossed it to her friend, trying to resist the urge to run over and make sure laura didn’t need any help.

“Well, I didn’t even know that… I just got back ta the camp, no one told me anythin’, I just noticed people were upset, but no one answered me anythin’, so I didn’t know anyone is missin’, so I ‘m sorry, but I don’t really know if they brought him and his siblings back, I truly hope they did though, and when ya find out if they did or no let me know, okay?”

“how the hell did you not know? they sent people out searching! there was a camp wide panic! it’s been two weeks, how the hell did you miss this?”
