I tweeted about that weird gucci sweater that looked like a straight up minstrel costume and they issued a formal apology AND removed the sweater from there site and all physical stores. My impact! Happy Black History Month!!!!
white people will cry over the death of a robot but will totally ignore the murder of an African American man who got shot by the police while he was sleeping.
His name was Willie McCoy and he was only 20.
Rest in Power, Willie.
Both are tragedies. Don’t downplay either of them.
Not … really? A robot is not comparable to a human. Sure what happened to Opportunity sucks but it’s not a tragedy. This man got shot for sleeping in a car. Sleeping in a car. I think that deserves more outcry and publicity.
I never said they were comparable.
But both are tragedy’s. One is a human life, the other a very important piece of scientific history.
Two things don’t need to be comparable for both to be tragedies.
And I was literally saying “don’t downplay them” because both deserve to be known, and neither deserve to have the other put down or mocked to bring attention to the other.
But they’re not both tragedies. Opportunity wasn’t meant to stay on Mars forever anyway; at some point, it would have been destroyed after it completed its mission; the same thing happened with Cassini, which was plunged straight into Saturn’s atmosphere.
Opportunity’s demise would’ve happened one way or another, and for people to prioritize it over the death of a black man being woken up only to get shot to death before even being given a chance to defend himself is fucked up and not comparable in any way whatsoever.
Please for the love of god read OP’s post again. This isn’t about “turning bad things into a contest”, it’s calling attention to how white people care more about a dinky little space rover than the unjustly slaying of another human being.
they really said a robot dying is a tragedy I’m suing
So people who own legal pot dispensaries are calling for a crackdown on people who sell it illegally and if that isn’t the MOST white liberal thing ever, what is?
