“I’ve never seen you in such a state. Perhaps I ought not be surprised, but I can’t help to wonder.” Cerulean eyes watched Seta with careful observation, the curiosity underlying her tone was guarded. Integra didn’t mean to intrude, but faint and general concern had been made clear by her voicing the matter.
"Mm... It happens." What were the odds of her chancing upon him like this? Not very high certainly, if one simply went by statistics. Yet on that matter, he said nothing, nor did he ask her to leave him be in his brooding mood. Regardless of how much he would have preferred it for the moment, misery so loved company and either way this was her own house.
Under normal circumstances, the demon's thoughts failed to outwardly affect his mood. Tonight, however, he was solemn and somewhat bloody -- but he made no move to clean himself up and instead remained sitting in silence. Maybe he needed some coffee...

19: Forceful Kiss
He is like 𝔽 𝕚 𝕣 𝕖 and
she is like 𝕀 𝕔 𝕖.
Every touch a 𝓼𝓲𝓷, but just as 𝓷𝓲𝓬𝓮.
Idle prattle had become common between the pair, and it was more often than not that Integra spared a smile for their lighter conversations. sometimes the topics consisted of businesslike material; other times, it was simply to pass time and relish in the company of another. After all, he was taking temporary residence in the manor for the time being - seeing as there were forces beyond Hellsing’s control or knowledge at work. They were in one of the studies, a few books scattered among them. Without honestly meaning to, they leaned against one another; shoulder to shoulder.
Jericho had a book in his lap while Integra had lowered her own. Blue eyes studied the Infernal with mild and guarded curiosity. Having felt her gaze however, his head turned and their faces nearly touched. Assuming she would chastise him and have a few choice words to say about the matter, he began to turn his head away. Before the action could follow through Integra had bad her move.
The blonde had quickly pressed her mouth to his in a forceful but not unkind kiss. Odd, given her usual control and almost disinterested habits. It didn’t last long and she pulled away before adjusting herself to sit properly. Now, the journal she’d been reading was her priority - so long as she didn’t have to meet his gaze.

"Business?" The Demon’s brow quirked in an expression of surprise, or perhaps disbelief. "If that’s what your mind is on, then I think it would be best to take a break." To be concerned with work all the time was, after all, rather unhealthy. Not to mention he himself rather despised it more often than not — far too tedious for his liking. He much preferred sniffing out the local coffee shops.
Aside from that, Seta would’ve made it quite clear if he were there on serious matters.
A quick tilt of the head was given and only after realizing she’d done it, Integra corrected herself. Straightening and recomposing her posture, the heiress mimicked his actions and raised a brow of her own. Repeating the word she’d used wasn’t what had her puzzled; but the fact that it was an inquiry — that had her stumped. Though, given their conversation perhaps it was in bad taste to have assumed they’d be discussing anything of too much importance.
Gloved hands folded together and a smile though small it was, formed on usually disenchanted lips. “My apologies, Mr. Hayes. I suppose I’ve misinterpreted our little meeting. Polite conversation will do perfectly well. It’s actually a relief.”
With the words came a sigh, and an expression of amusement from the demon. It seemed a certain workaholic needed an intervention before she fell any further into her grave of flattened pulp sheets. Death by paperwork didn't sound very pleasing after all.
"I still think you should take a breather. Care to join me for a walk, maybe?" No harm in extending the invitation. Besides, he'd already planned on heading to town for a bit after their conversation was done, so it wasn't really any skin off his back. The only question was whether or not Integra agreed with the Infernal. It would be nice (familiar, friendly company was always welcome) and Seta didn't see any negative side effects to it (except for maybe having less time to work, but well).

The demon chuckled quietly. He remembered asking his own mother the same question, once upon a time. In response she’d shared a most interesting tale - and one that, for all he knew even now, could very well be true.
"Three hearts, both literally and figuratively speaking," Seta answered. "Not the most conventional anatomy, I admit, but it’s worked for almost as long as Inferni have existed." With that, the cigarette was lightly plucked from his mouth and was promptly crushed and dissipated, as it was designed to. He always did like that touch; it was wonderfully convenient and clean.
At any rate, the male said nothing regarding Integra’s seeming refusal to look at him. Still he couldn’t help but wonder if he’d done something wrong.
Though it was faint, ghostly traces of a smile had passed over the woman’s features. It started with a small twitch at the corners of her mouth, and carried on to pass over the lines in her face and finally, a softening in arctic orbs. Integra visibly relaxed; albeit, only a little more. She felt neither threatened nor entirely comfortable, but if Mr. Hayes had come to do harm, it would have been made more obvious.
"Efficient though it would seem," she replied. The tone Hellsing’s director used was light, providing room for a bit of humor. Lifting her head, Integra averted her gaze to peer out one of the windows. "Convenient in the very least, no? So tell me, Mr. Hayes, did you come here to speak on business terms or did you grow bored?"
It was then that Integra settled her gaze upon the Infernal being before her. She waited, blue eyes searching and perhaps expecting some sort of answer or change.

"It certainly seems that way, yes," the Infernal returned with a faint chuckle, despite the change in Integra’s expression. Yet he couldn’t help but give a small, almost childish pout at the fate of the Earthly cigar.
"…Every time you do that I have the urge to get together a funeral for the poor thing."
[†] — The smirk that donned her features was inevitable and the heiress made no attempt to hide it. If it hadn’t felt so childish and cliche, the woman would have rolled her eyes. Gloved hands moved to the pockets of her blazer as a small, amused sound found and escaped her.
"Would you be singing a dirge for it as well? You may be providing services for quite some time. Up until my death, that is."
He had to admit, he rather liked witnessing an amused expression form on the matriarch's features; her eyes especially. Without the hardened glare, the guarded look, Seta honestly thought they looked quite nice. (He would say "pretty", but that would no doubt earn some form of verbal abuse.) Regardless, the Infernal couldn't help but smirk as well.
"Hah~! I'd end up doing so even after your death. It's not like you can't smoke in the afterlife."

"Perhaps, though I think I rather prefer it to commanding troops and dealing with an errant vampire," the Infernal quipped in return, thoroughly amused with their current situation. The simple pleasure of a friendly conversation was hard to come by these days - and admittedly, he was glad that Integra was the one he was chatting with. If nothing else it meant that a fair amount of distrust was no longer there.
[†] — Ah, her vampire. The troops, as added into the equation, could be just as much of a hassle. Though it never lasted too long. Integra could intimidate her men if needed, and more often than not she eventually won over their obedience. A small frown found her lips at such a thought and she mentally reprimanded herself. Sighing, the knight removed her cigar and disposed of it. She no longer enjoyed its place or taste in her mouth.
"I suppose that’s fair enough. We’ll agree that both of us have our work cut out for us then?"
"It certainly seems that way, yes," the Infernal returned with a faint chuckle, despite the change in Integra's expression. Yet he couldn't help but give a small, almost childish pout at the fate of the Earthly cigar.

[--He'd be a King, because honestly, would any other piece suit him?
"While I'm flattered by your intention, I'm going to have to disagree with you anon. The King, though considered the most important piece on the board in terms of goals, is perhaps the most useless one as well. It has to rely on others for work and defense and can do little else but watch as its companions are taken out one after the other."
"...No, anon. I am not a King."

"Mm. Extended family and members of the Court mainly. Sometimes the Council as well." Unfortunately, those old geezers he couldn’t do anything to. Not unless he wanted to find himself getting strung up by his own innards at least. Again.
[†] — A small chuckle was given, and the knight laced both hands together behind her back. It was rare, having such idle but eerily comfortable conversation. “Well, Mr. Hayes,” Integra began - “I believe you’ve got your hands full. More so, than I myself.” That however, was probably more obvious; but still, a little humor never hurt.
